Former England right back Gary Neville on ITV: "You think that a team is going on to win this tournament they have to go through a difficult moment and for France you thought that was their difficult moment.

"You were think 3-1 that's it now they will kick on. Spain are conceding goals, you're starting to look forward. At 3-2 it just changed it a little bit.

"They were never comfortable at the back all night the French, they were always conceding performance. It was a strange performance"

Switzerland

Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer: "What a game, what a night of football. The end is crazy, it is beautiful but how we came back during the game from two goals down, I am really proud of this team.

"We always believed, we always said if we are down we will go to the end and not give up. It was our chance to go through. it is incredible how we played.

"Anything is possible but that is always in football. We believed it, we are a small country but we have a lot of quality and have experience in our squad. We showed it."

Switzerland

Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka: "The feeling is amazing. Everyone who is from Switzerland can be very proud today. We wrote history, we made history and to come back like this, showing the spirit and character, I am very proud to be part of this team.

"We can dream, we are still in the tournament, we play Spain and we know them. We need the same fighting spirit like today."

Mbappe hasn't been quite right in the tournament, the big French man. He's fluffed his line in the biggest moment and didn't step up.

Watching some slo-mo replays of the penalty save and celebrations and they're great.

Granit Xhaka ran to the touchline, screamed in manager Vladimir Petkovic's face before grabbing his jacket and shaking him like a rag doll.

Petkovic was loving it.

Roy Keane on the decisive penalty on ITV:

"It's a miss but it's a great save. An absolutely brilliant save and that was the one moment. We talk about the pressure, the technique, he's hit it pretty well but it's a fantastic save. We saw the VAR at the end of it and his foot is just on the line."

The way Switzerland played, they were a real team and they've been great this tournament. They didn't just lob the ball up the pitch, they played out the back and the way they played with three centre backs, they were brave, they don't play with five in the back.

They showed courage on the ball and they created chances up against this formidable French team.

They were together, organised, slick and they had belief. They played high risk football and they played it well. We have to credit the manager for that, for the organisation, for the belief in the team.

The way they played, you wouldn't put it past them to knock Spain out.

Watch all six goals, there's some crackers in there.

"He had a couple of moments in Extra Time but its just not gone well for him.

"He has aspirations of being the best player in the world like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi but this is a little bump in the road for him. He will come through it. He's having a tough time in this tournament and its a tough one for him to take as well as his French team.

"For the Swiss I thought they was the perfect team for France to springboard their assault on this tournament but the Swiss has shocked us all. I am absolutely stunned by what I have seen in the last 120 minutes."

"Switzerland were dead and buried kept fighting, they showed great quality. The French had the game won at 3-1 up. The game was done and dusted. Look at the players celebrating. They have to enjoy these moments. To beat France the world champions. Great night."

"No togetherness." Not like the French to implode in a major tournament.

"Missing a penalty, everyone can miss a penalty but tonight we have to give credit to the Swiss team because I strongly believe that the best team won today. The best team deserve to go to the next round and tonight that is the Swiss.

"It was a poor French national team. There wasn't any togetherness, there wasn't any spirit. We didn't play as a team so we didn't deserve to go to the next round."

If not the greatest result in Switzerland's history when you think of the team they were playing. France are a formidable team.

Kylian Mbappe walks down the tunnel on his own, that's a sad sight. Just like his team, he makes an early exit.
