Mancini working his magic

Roberto Mancini has turned Italy round since taking over in May 2018. The Azzurri had failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time in 60 years, with one newspaper comparing it to the Apocalypse.
Italy have won 28 of his 37 games in charge - a 75% win rate - and are now unbeaten in 32 games, a run going back to a 1-0 Nations League defeat by Portugal in September 2018.
They have now won 13 games in a row too.

Whereas once upon a time this would have been Spanish possession and midfield against Italy defence and counterattack, the battle this evening will be the two midfields. It will be a battle between Giorginho, Marco Verratti and Nicolo Barella, against Koke, Sergio Busquets and Pedri.
That's what makes this Italy side so refreshing, that's why a lot of neutrals have stood up and taken notice of this team because it feels un-Italian. When you look at Italy, what do you think about in general? It's 'La Dolce Vita' - style, fashion and the football should reflect that. All too often it hasn't, but now it does.

The absence of Leonardo Spinazzola is a huge blow for Italy.
The full-back has arguably been one of the best players at the tournament but ruptured his Achilles tendon in the quarter-final win against Belgium and is out for six months.
He created eight chances for team-mates (the fourth most of any Italian player - or of any defender at Euro 2020) and attempted 18 dribbles (eight more than any other Italian).
He put in 11 crosses (almost twice the number of any team-mate) and had seven shots (Denmark's Joakim Maehle is the only defender to try more).
Big boots for Chelsea's Emerson to fill.

I view this as a very, very close affair. Italy will do what they do and will make it very difficult for the Spanish, but I still don't think we've seen the best of Spain and they haven't started yet. Guillem Balague tells me we have, I don't think we've seen the best of this Spanish side and we have to see it tonight. It's going to be difficult tonight.

Spain got caught up in a bit of traffic on the way to Wembley but they've just arrived now and have been greeted by warm applause from the smattering of Spain fans inside the stadium as the players came out to check out the pitch.

The atmosphere could be interesting tonight because fans who could have flown in from Italy and Spain would have to quarantine and therefore miss the game.
That means the crowd is likely to be made up of UK-based Italians and Spaniards, as well as neutrals.
Italian FA president Gabriele Gravina says they have been given 125 tickets - out of a possible 60,000 crowd.
"It is unfair that there are no fans from Italy and Spain," says Italy boss Roberto Mancini. "But it is better to play in front of the public than in front of a few people - that is the beauty of sport."
Looking through the picture agencies and both countries seem well represented outside a wet Wembley so far.

From 24 teams we are down to four - Denmark, England, Italy and Spain - and by the end of tomorrow we will know which two will contest the Euro 2020 final.
Will it be Italy? Losing finalists in 2000 and 2012 but without a European Championship title since 1968.
Will it be Denmark? The emotionally charged team and the story of the tournament who will be carrying the support of many neutrals.
Will it be Spain? A side clinging on to the past glories of their dominant team from a decade ago but their current team has overcome criticism to reach the last four.
Or will it be England? A team looking to finally put behind them the heartache from the past to lift the trophy for the first time.
One of those teams will see their journey end tonight as Italy take on Spain in the first semi-final at Wembley.
