    Motherwell 1-0 St Mirren

Better play from St Mirren as Jonathan Obika sets up Ilkay Durmus at the edge of the box but the winger's shot is deflected up into the arms of Mark Gillespie, who gets a rare touch.

A back-pedalling Vaclav Hladky needs to keep his eye on a deep free kick from Rolando Aarons, which was creeping in under the crossbar.

The keeper quickly fires it long but the St Mirren forwards can't make it stick.

This is such a stark contrast from St Mirren. Every time they attacked last week there was four or five men in support, but tonight they've had very little impact in the game

It's been a sustained period of pressure for Motherwell. They are winning second balls and Rolando Aarons is mixing his game up well. He's been a real livewire in this first half

Another couple of corners for the home side - they are up to nine now - but St Mirren hold on.

    Motherwell 1-0 St Mirren

St Mirren fail to clear their lines from a corner and the ball falls invitingly to Allan Campbell near the edge of the box but the midfielder gets it all wrong, leaning back and sending his shot too high.

It's brilliant from Tony Watt. He gets to the ball from the corner first, carries it 50-60 yards and creates a great opportunity for himself

Another dreadful St Mirren corner and Motherwell are off and running on the counter, with Tony Watt slaloming his way past several challenges before his low, angled shot is blocked by Vaclav Hladky.

It’s been an impressive opening from Motherwell, with Rolando Aarons standing out.

He earned the penalty by utilising his pace and being direct when he had the opportunity to break. St Mirren’s Calum Waters really has a problem on that side having already been booked for taking out the winger.

The visitors haven’t offered too much other than Ilkay Durmus’ strike from an angle that crept narrowly over.

It’s a little too comfortable for Stephen Robinson’s men thus far.

Corner to St Mirren. A scuffed delivery is helped on by Conor McCarthy but is blocked by Rolando Aarons. Did it hit his hand? The visiting fans think so, but there was no real appeal from any of the players.

More pressure from the hosts as Vaclav Hladky awkwardly scoops away a header from Declan Gallagher. The St Mirren keeper makes a much better job of keeping out the follow-up shot from Tony Watt and Liam Polworth eventually skies it over the top.

Rolando Aarons skips away from two players, who try to have a kick at him. Calum Waters finally succeeds in booting the Motherwell winger to the turf with an ugly challenge.

  15. CLOSE!published at 14 mins

    Motherwell 1-0 St Mirren

A first sight of goal for the visitors as Ilkay Durmus lets fly from near the edge of the penalty box on the left. Plenty of power but it was always rising.

There's no doubt about it. It's great play. Because of St Mirren's shape and how open they are, it's one pass up to Hylton who plays it to Aarons. The referee has got it right. It's a brilliant penalty

Aarons should have flashed that across the face of goal, there were numbers in the box. If you are going to hit that shot it needs to come across the goalkeeper

    Motherwell 0-0 St Mirren

The St Mirren players stop, looking for a free kick that doesn't come, and Motherwell are in again, with Liam Polworth leading the charge. The midfielder slips a pass to Rolando Aarons, who goes for goal with an angled shot but slashes it horribly wide.
