Defoe returns

It's a big boost for Rangers to have Jermain Defoe back on the bench for the first time since injuring his knee against Ross County a month ago.

The former England captain has 17 goals in 30 appearances this term, a lot of which have come from the bench. Clinical.

'Every positive result can help' - Stendel

Hearts head coach Daniel Stendel speaking to BBC Radio Scotland: "On one side we want to be more stable in defence, and on the other we want to have more when Rangers are in possession.

"Liam Boyce was ill, then picked up a small injury on Thursday. We said it would be better if he didn't start today, but he can come on and make an impact."

I think it's really poor from Alfredo Morelos. Clearly Steven Gerrard has disciplined him, but that's a really big decision. It's one of those, do you suck it up, and say 'I'll deal with you on Monday because I need you for this game'? Or do you take the hard line and say 'no, actually, you're not involved if you can't show the professionalism'? It's a big call from the manager.

Rangers' Tynecastle toils

Gorgie hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Rangers despite Hearts' poor season , having drawn 1-1 in October and lost 2-1 at the end of January. Will it be more of the same this afternoon?

The sides have also met at Hampden, in the League Cup semi-finals, and Ibrox, in the league, with Rangers winning by an aggregate score of 8-0.

Morelos missing for disciplinary issue

Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has just told Premier Sports that Alfredo Morelos is not in the squad because of a disciplinary issue.

According to the Rangers manager, the striker was given permission to return to Colombia to deal with a family matter this week, and reported back 24 hours late, missing training on Thursday.

Remember, he was suspended for the Europa League win against Braga on Wednesday having picked up a booking in the first leg, so did not travel with the squad.

Hibernian are the first club to make it through to the semi-finals after beating Inverness CT 5-2 last night at Easter Road.

We had seven goals, a missed penalty and a red card. More of the same in these two games would be ideal!

Rangers without Morelos as Gerrard makes two changes

Rangers are without Alfredo Morelos this afternoon, as the Colombian drops out of the squad along with fellow striker Florain Kamberi, who is cup tied having already played in the competition this season for parent club Hibernian. Jermain Defoe returns, but just on the bench.

Ianis Hagi also begins among the substitutes, as manager Steven Gerrard makes two changes from Wednesday's win over Sporting Braga in the Europa League, with Greg Stewart and Joe Aribo coming in to the starting line-up.

Hearts make four changes

Hearts make four changes to the side that came back to salvage a late draw against Hamilton a fortnight ago. The defence remains the same but Andy Irving and Jamie Walker drop to the bench with Lewis Moore, Loic Damour and Oliver Bozanic playing in midfield.

Liam Boyce, who scored the winner against Rangers last month, and Uche Ikpeazu also drop out with Conor Washington partnering Steven Naismith in attack.
