  1. St Mirren rejig because of Tait absencepublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    St Mirren 0-0 Kilmarnock

Richard Tait is ostensibly a right-back but has started the season at left-back for St Mirren so his suspension today has created a poser for manager Jim Goodwin.

Marcus Fraser has been moved across to the left and Cammy MacPherson is filling in for Fraser at right-back.

It will be interesting to see if Kilmarnock target the wide areas today.

What a start for Micky Mellon's men!

Logan Chalmers, who's started brightly, skips down the right wing superbly before playing the ball across the edge of the box towards Adrian Sporle. The full-back manages to work his way into the box before putting the ball on a plate for Lawrence Shankland to stroke home from six yards.

Stevie May stabs an early shot wide as St Johnstone start with intent. The division's lowest scorers look fired up to rid themselves of that tag.

  4. Football should be treated 'like any other industry'published at 15:02 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    St Mirren 0-0 Kilmarnock

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin on BBC Radio Scotland just before kick-off: "I think the club is on a sound financial footing. We don't carry any debt, which is great.

"We're in a similar situation to every other club and every other industry, When there's no revenue coming in then it makes life extremely difficult.

"Hopefully, we can come up with a plan that will allow us to get a percentage of supporters back in the stadiums, which will then add to the revenue.

"Football should be treated the same as any other industry. If there are other companies businesses out there getting financial support from the government then I don't think football should be looked on any differently."

  7. Davidson welcomes goalie's returnpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Livingston v St Johnstone (15:00)

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson is pleased to welcome back goalkeeper Zander Clark from a knee injury for his first outing of the campaign.

"It's great, he's had a couple of bounce games and we know he's ready," Davidson tells BBC Sportsound. "Elliot Parish has performed to a high level, but it's good to have Zander back."

On his side's form, Davidson added: "We just have to remain positive. We've had one win in five games but deserved a lot more. The boys are playing well, creating chances, and hopefully today is the day they start putting the ball in the net."

  8. 'Massive' incentive for bottom club Livipublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Livingston v St Johnstone (15:00)

Livingston manager Gary Holt says the chance to leapfrog St Johnstone with victory today is a "massive" incentive for his bottom-placed side.

Holt tells BBC Sportsound: "The whole season will be like that - teams going up and down, because there's so much onus on every game.

"This season, after last term was cut short, we need to get points on the board because you never know what's going to happen.

"It's two sides playing really good football and not getting the rewards they deserve. I have to tell the players not to get down or dispirited, I don't think we need to change too much, just be more ruthless in both boxes."

  9. Dykes cash vital for Livi survivalpublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Livingston v St Johnstone (15:00)

A stark warning from Livingston chief executive John Ward, who explains that his club will be reliant on the Lyndon Dykes transfer fee to see them through to the end of the season if the ban on fans continues.

Dykes was sold to QPR for approximately £2m, with the fee presumably coming in instalments.

Ward estimates that Livi would usually make £150,000 from each visit from the Old Firm.

  10. Accies 'needed freshness' - Ricepublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

Hamilton Academical v Dundee United (15:00)

On his team selection, Hamilton head coach Brian Rice tells BBC Sportsound: "We felt as if we needed a bit of freshness. It's a gamble [to put Lee Hodson in the starting line-up] but Lee's a model professional. I know he would have been keeping himself fit even though he's been training indoors.

"I wasn't happy about our quality in the final third last weekend, so I've put two lads [Andy Winter and Tunde Owolabi] up front that are hungry. I'm looking forward to see how they play together."

  11. Shankland off the mark in stylepublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Hamilton v Dundee United (15:00)

After a frustrating injury interruption, Lawrence Shankland scored his first Premiership goal last weekend.

It was a beauty too, as you can see below.

Will it be the first of many for the Dundee United and Scotland striker, who was so prolific in the second tier?

Livingston and St Johnstone are united in their current aims - to start moving up the table, and get their seasons moving in the right direction.

The hosts prop up the table but Gary Holt’s side will take heart from running Celtic close in a 3-2 loss at Celtic last time out.

It has been a case of fine margins for St Johnstone and the visitors will be determined to end a frustrating run after being on the wrong end of so many 1-0 scorelines.

  13. Can St Mirren stop the rot?published at 14:41 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    St Mirren v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Kilmarnock have won seven of their past 10 meetings with St Mirren in all competitions but the Buddies triumphed when the sides last met in December.

St Mirren are on an alarming run of four losses in a row but have their full complement of goalkeepers back after recent coronavirus woes.

Kilmarnock dug out a win with 10 men last weekend, making it two victories from their last three matches as Alex Dyer's men show promising signs of starting to click.

  14. Saints need to find scoring touchpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Livingston v St Johnstone (15:00)

Livingston have won their past two home meetings with Saints and the Perth side are without a win in five league games against today's hosts overall.

Home form has been the key to the West Lothian side's success over the last two seasons in the top flight but they've been a bit wobbly so far, taking four points from four outings on their much-maligned artificial carpet.

St Johnstone are on a run of five successive 1-0 results. Unfortunately for them, four of those have been defeats. Can the league's lowest scoring side find their shooting boots today?

  15. Accies out to break home duckpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Hamilton v Dundee United

Hamilton are unbeaten in their past six meetings with Dundee United, with the last encounter being the Premiership play-off final back in May 2017.

Greg Docherty scored the only goal over two legs to retain the Accies' top flight status.

United can jump up to fourth with a win this afternoon, having arrested a three-game losing streak by beating St Mirren last weekend.

Hamilton have lost all three of their home matches this season and have yet to score on their own plastic patch.

  16. Clark starts for Saints; two Livi changespublished at 14:31 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    Livingston v St Johnstone (15:00)

There's no place in the St Johnstone squad for new midfield signing Craig Bryson, but goalkeeper Zander Clark makes his first appearance of the season.

He replaces the benched Elliot Parish, with Liam Gordon, David Wotherspoon and Callum Hendry also making way from last Saturday's home defeat by Ross County.

Joining Clark in the starting line-up are midfielders Craig Conway and Murray Davidson and frontman Michael O'Halloran.

Livingston show two changes from last week’s 3-2 defeat at Celtic. Winger Alan Forrest and forward Scott Robinson return, with Ciaron Brown and Craig Sibbald dropping to the bench.

  17. Dyer urges Killie to 'get on with task in hand'published at 14:29 British Summer Time 26 September 2020

    St Mirren v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Kilmarnock manager Alex Dyer on BBC Radio Scotland: "We feel good, the form's been decent all season. Lately we've had a couple of good wins and the boys are in good spirit.

"We train without supporters and we just take that into the game. We'd love to have supporters back but at this present time we know that's the case. We get on with the task in hand and that's winning games."

    St Mirren v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Three changes for St Mirren, who only have enough players to list six substitutes. Jak Alnwick returns in goal for the first time since his positive Covid-19 test while Ilkay Durmus and Junior Morias start further up the field.

Emergency loan goalkeeper Zdenek Zlamal is back at Hearts, Richard Tait is suspended while Jon Obika drops to the bench.

Kilmarnock also have a player banned and Eamonn Brophy's place in the starting line-up is taken by Alan Power.
