But fear not, this relentless league comes again on Wednesday with five more games - with Bournemouth, Watford and Brentford among those in action.

Reading move top of the table after beating Wycombe Wanderers 1-0 at the Madejski Stadium.

Veljko Paunovic's men have replaced Bristol City at the summit after the Robins suffered their first defeat of the season at home against Middlesbrough.

Millwall jump up to fourth ahead of the rest of the midweek fixtures courtesy of their victory over Luton Town.

• Reading go top of the Championship with a home win over lowly Wycombe, who are yet to register a point since promotion.
• Bristol City's unbeaten league start is ended by Middlesbrough, who win 1-0 at Ashton Gate.
• Chris Hughton's first home game as Nottingham Forest boss ends in a 1-1 draw with Rotherham.
• Derby County suffer a fifth defeat in six games, losing 1-0 at Huddersfield Town.

• Northampton and Rochdale move out of the bottom four with wins over Swindon and Burton respectively.
• Earlier, leaders Ipswich lost 4-1 at Doncaster and Hull moved top with a 1-0 win over AFC Wimbledon.

• Cambridge United stay top after a 3-1 win over Port Vale, with Paul Mullin's hat-trick taking his personal tally to seven goals in three games and 11 for the season.
• Newport and Cheltenham remain in the top three after also registering their fifth wins of the campaign.
• Harrogate move up to fourth as Jack Muldoon's brace secures the points at Grimsby, while Salford City register their first win under interim boss Paul Scholes.
• Bolton score a 95th-minute equaliser to draw 3-3 at Barrow, denying the Cumbrians their first win since returning to the EFL.

It wasn't always pretty, but Reading won't care.

They see off Wycombe and as the Grandstand theme plays over the PA system at the Madejski Stadium, the Royals can celebrate going three points clear at the top of the Championship.

Wycombe have a late free-kick near the centre circle, which Joe Jacobson floats into the box, but Reading clear the danger.

Bristol City suffer their first defeat of the campaign after gifting George Saville the only goal.

It was a poor match, but Boro boss Neil Warnock won't mind after the Teessiders make it five unbeaten.

Juninho Bacuna's 53rd-minute goal is enough to give the Terriers all three points and pile more pressure on Derby boss Phillip Cocu.

Huddersfield are up to eighth while the Rams have just three points from their opening six games, with captain Wayne Rooney still out for another two games as he self-isolates.

Much like the players at this Coventry corner, the Sky Blues and Swansea cannot be separated at St Andrew's.

Swansea's Andre Ayew cancelled out Jordan Shipley's opener to ensure the points are shared.

The Lions make it back-to-back victories and climb into the top six.

Martin Cranie's own goal gave the hosts the lead just before the break, and Connor Mahoney made the points safe with 11 minutes left.

That's now three defeats in four for the Hatters.

Rotherham hang on for a point in Chris Hughton's first home game in charge of Forest.

The Millers took the lead through Daniel Barlaser's penalty but Sammy Ameobi cancelled it out with Forest piling on the pressure late on.

That's four points out of his first two games for the new Forest boss.

It was shaky towards the end for Norwich but they've got the job done.

Todd Cantwell and company had been left frustrated by a committed defensive display from Birmingham but Adam Clayton's red card opened things up for Mario Vrancic to find a late winner. which looks like moving the Canaries up to seventh.

A half-chance for 10-man Birmingham with three minutes of stoppage time left.

Ivan Sanchez digs out a cross and it beats the Norwich defenders but Scott Hogan doesn't expect it to reach him and can't sort his feet quick enough to get off a meaningful effort.

Wycombe need to respond to going a goal down and they call on Adebayo Akinfenwa who comes on for Alex Samuel.

Coventry so close to what would probably have been the winner!

The Sky Blues have a shot cleared off the line and then Callum O'Hare diverts a cross from the right wide from close range.

Martyn Waghorn whips in a ball and Derby centre-back Matt Clarke heads against the post.
