A Republic of Ireland debut now for Derby midfielder Jason Knight as he comes on for Jayson Molumby for the final six minutes.

Finland are going to be forced into a change too as Albin Granlund limps off injured. Jukka Raitala is the player coming on.

Aaron Connolly is crowded out inside the box but does win a corner, which Shane Duffy heads over from Robbie Brady's delivery.

The fans in the stands certainly enjoyed celebrating that goal. They are making plenty of noise now with their side currently on course to go top of their Nations League group.

A great ball into the box by Matt Doherty finds Aaron Connolly. He's unmarked and has just the goalkeeper to beat but the angle his a little tight and his shot is kept out by Lukas Hradecky.

A second for Finland would really be game over. The visitors have scored just once under new boss Stephen Kenny.

Republic of Ireland are pushing to try and get an immediate equaliser and Matt Doherty appeals for a penalty as his cross appears to hit the arm of a Finland player but nothing is given.

Oh a gift for the hosts! Darren Randolph's short goal kick is pounced on by Teemu Pukki, who then squares to Fredrik Jensen, who finishes from close range.

The visitors have been determined to play out from the back but now it has cost them.

Maguire's missed opportunity

Sean Maguire didn't last long in the Republic attack following half-time after struggling to make an impression in Helsinki.

It could have been all so different for the Preston striker if he had controlled that dangerous ball from Aaron Connolly late in the first half.

Teemu Pukki is crowded out inside the box as he tries to get a shot off before the loose ball falls to Glen Kamara on the edge of the area but his shot is blocked.

The visitors are defending well, not much has got through from the hosts.

Great run Jayson Molumby as he charges away down the right. He gets to the edge of the box before whipping in a decent cross but it is too close to the keeper.

SUBSTITUTION

The visitors make a change now as Robbie Brady comes on for Sean Maguire. Looks like Aaron Connolly has moved into a more central position as a result.

Not much change in the pattern of play from the first half with both sides exchanging possession in midfield and a lack of action in the final third.

Sean Maguire has a foray forward stopped by a good sliding tackle before Finland patiently try to work the ball forward.

The Republic have produced some neat approach work with Jeff Hendrick and the speedy Aaron Connolly both prominent but the final pass is either just fractionally out of range or else not sticking.

But while the Irish have had plenty of possession, Finland's Norwich striker Teemu Pukki has missed the best two chances.

So moderate encouragement for the visitors but also signs that it could unravel.
