On Luka Milivojevic's red card: "My view is it's not a sending off and I've told (referee) Martin Atkinson that. He thinks there was a reason to give a red card but I've seen it as well and I certainly don't agree with that. It was a fair challenge and there was no intent to contact Joao Moutinho at all.

"I'm very disappointed with that one. It's the worst part of the evening in a way. There would have been positives to take, but to lose a player for three games for a challenge I didn't even consider a foul will be very hard to take."

Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo to BBC Sport: "I think we were good but we should play better. We started well. We had a good team in front of us. At the end of the first half we slowed down our pressure and Palace had chances.

"Second half we adjusted and didn't concede too many chances and had our chances where we should do better.

"For Rayan Ait Nouri I am really pleased because it is the first game and what a better start can he have? He is 19 with a lot of things to improve. He has to get so many things on board and that's the work.

On moving into the top three: "It's all about the performance, the table is not important. The work is important. Playing without fans requires a lot of focus, we haven't the edge of Molineux."

Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to BT Sport: “You’re always disappointed when you play and lose.

“Wolves started the game strongly and we didn’t. As a result they had a 2-0 lead. After that we played more than evenly with them. But it wasn’t possible for us to get back in the game.

“I’m not disappointed with how the players played for most of the game. But I’m disappointed with that opening 20-minute spell.

“I spoke to the referee about the red card [to Luka Milivojevic]. I made my views clear. I don’t think it was a red card. It was a fair challenge.”

Wolves will end the day in third place, their highest position this far into a top-flight season since October 1979 (when they were third after 10 matches).

"Rayan Ait Nouri played good. He has things to improve on. I was smiling because football is like this, it’s your first game and you score.

"To have goals all over the team is important. It’s what you need.

"The idea is to sustain [their form]. Every game in the Premier League is very tough."

Wolves' Daniel Podence on fellow goalscorer Rayan Ait Nouri: "He has a great left foot. He has a lot of quality. He showed everyone what he can do. We are here to help him."

On going level on points at the top: "We play game by game. We are improving since the first game. We had a difficult pre-season. We can do better and we are trying to be perfect."

Wolves captain Conor Coady on Rayan Ait Nouri's debut perormance: "He's sharp in training, turns you inside out and has bags of tricks. It's important we help him settle in as quickly as possible."

On Wolves' strong start to season: "We never put targets on where we want to go because you create unwanted pressure. We've got a long week now, we'll enjoy the rest."

"We dominated large spells and then we defended as a team. It's good to play on a Friday and get a win.

As a player I've got myself caught in many situations in bad tackles. Milivojevic doesn't even think about the player. He's thinking about pushing the ball past the opponent. Everyone will say he's endangering the opponent. The VAR slow-mo makes it look so much worse.
