  1. Round two a long throw-in away for Challinor and his men?published at 14:53 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

Dave Challinor in his long-throwing playing days

A few years ago this would have been a fixture where Hartlepool would have been looking to avoid an upset - how times have changed!

Pools lost their 96-year league status in 2017 and ply their trade in the National League while The Ammies reached the promised land for the first time in their history last year.

If the North East side manage a win here then perhaps it won't be too much of a surprise because Dave Challinor's men are currently sixth in the table and Salford are 10th in League Two.

    Exeter City 2-1 AFC Fylde

We're approaching stoppage time at St James Park, where non-league visitors Fylde are pushing for an equaliser that will take the game to extra time.

No replays in this shortened season, of course - if any ties end level today, it's extra time and then the dreaded penalty shoot-out.

  3. 'I got it wrong'published at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

    Tonbridge Angels 0-7 Bradford City

Tonbridge boss Steve McKimm tells BBC Sport he got his tactics wrong against Bradford.

"I was too adventurous," he adds. "They were head and shoulders better than us. We didn't lay a glove on them."

McKimm says he has some "battered egos" in the dressing room.

  4. Non-leaguers hoping to make cup memoriespublished at 14:49 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

Banbury United v Canvey Island (15:00 GMT)

Canvey Island v BurnleyImage source, Rex Features

Four non-league clubs are guaranteed a place in the next round. One of them will come from Canvey Island's tie at Banbury United.

Banbury are 18th in Southern League Premier Division Central, the seventh tier, while Canvey sit 15th in the Isthmian League North Division, a step below.

And it's Canvey who have the greater Cup history having reached the third round back in 2002, losing out to then second-tier Burnley.

We're going to say this a lot today; this game would be brilliant with fans.

You can watch this tie on the BBC Sport website and BBC iPlayer.

Boreham Wood FC v Southend Utd (15:00 GMT)

Could one of the surprises of the round come at Meadow Park?

National League side Boreham Wood, who have made the second round on three occasions, take on League Two strugglers Southend United.

The Shrimpers are rock bottom of their division without a win so far this season. Manager Mark Molesley said: "I think we do an injustice to Conference clubs calling them non-league because they’re a full time outfits and there are some really good teams in that league.

"We’ve seen how well Harrogate have done since coming up and Barrow so we know a tough challenge awaits."

  6. First meeting since Wembleypublished at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

    Rochdale v Stockport (15:00 GMT)

Having entered at the fourth and final qualifying round stage, Stockport County have already experienced quite a drama to reach the first round.

The National League side lost a penalty shootout at home to fifth-tier rivals Chesterfield in the fourth qualifying round.

However, the tie was ordered to be played again after Chesterfield fielded an ineligible player,, external Stockport running out 4-0 winners.

This is the first meeting between the Rochdale and Stockport since the Hatters beat Rochdale in the League Two play-off final at Wembley in 2008.

    Dagenham & Redbridge v Grimsby (15:00 GMT)

    Ian HollowayImage source, Rex Features

Dagenham and Redbridge are back in the FA Cup first round for the first time in three seasons.

The Daggers, who sit bottom of the National League, are hoping their cup form can inspire some much needed wins in the league.

They host Ian Holloway's Grimsby Town who sit 16th in League Two.

And with the Mariners missing first-teamers James Hanson, James Tilley, Virgil Gomis and Owura Edwards through injury, a shock win for the hosts could be on the cards.

    Stevenage TownImage source, Rex Features

National League South side Concord Rangers are playing in the first round for just the second time in their history.

The Beachboys edged out Chippenham Town in the fourth qualifying round thanks to a 98th minute winner from forward Danny Green.

They face a Stevenage side who are struggling in League Two, without a win in their last 10 matches.

Can Concord fly to victory? Sorry, that was really poor. I'm going to take a break from the puns now.

  10. Darlington hoping to avenge 1911 losspublished at 14:36 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

    Swindon v Darlington (15:00 GMT)

    Noel HuntImage source, Rex Features

Swindon Town are all set to play their first fixture since promotion-winning boss Richie Wellens made the switch to Salford City on Wednesday.

Assistant manager Noel Hunt has been tasked with steadying the ship until a new manager can be found, and Hunt was in the dugout for Town's loss to Plymouth in the league on Tuesday.

This might be the ideal time to play Swindon who sit just one spot above the relegation places in League One.

Non-league Darlington are the visitors, and have a fine FA Cup history. The club has twice reached the FA Cup last 16, the last of which came in the 1957-58 season where they thrashed Chelsea 4-1 along the way in a fifth-round replay.

They also reached the quarters in the 1910-11 campaign. The club they lost to nearly 110 years ago? Swindon Town.

  11. An FA Cup cracker?published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

    Ipswich v Portsmouth (15:00 GMT)

    Kenny Jackett.Image source, Getty Images

This has all the potential to be a cracker - and you can watch it right here on the BBC Sport website, as well as the BBC iPlayer.

Ipswich, winners in 1978, host League One rivals Portsmouth, winners as recently as 2008.

Both teams are doing well in the third tier of English football, Paul Lambert's Ipswich sitting second in the table, five places above Kenny Jackett's Portsmouth.

A replay was needed the last time these two clubs met in the FA Cup in 2015-16.

After a third round 2-2 draw at Portman Road, Portsmouth - then in League Two - won the replay 2-1.

  12. Mariners hoping to stun league sidepublished at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November 2020

Cheltenham Town v South Shields (15:00 GMT)

The Mariners will be hoping they perform better during their trip south than their near neighbours Newcastle managed at Southampton on Friday.

The Northern Premier League side, in the seventh tier, play in the first-round proper for the first time since they reformed in 1974.

The North East club saw off National League side Halifax Town to set up a match against the side currently sixth in League Two.

Shields are managed by both Lee Picton and Graham Fenton. Geordie Fenton, 46, scored twice against boyhood club Newcastle in a match while playing for Blackburn, which effectively ended the Magpies' title hopes in in the 1995-96 season.

Tonbridge have been poor at the back today and again Bradford punish them.

This time Connor Wood adds his name to the score-sheet, pouncing on a loose ball in the box.

    Tonbridge Angels 0-6 Bradford City

I like the look of Tonbridge's Joe turner, he's Angels' leading scorer in the league this year.

He pounces on a loose ball before smashing an effort narrowly over.

Five to go in this one.
