It's five without victory - with the last three all ending in draws - for 17th-placed Birmingham.

They do go into tonight's game though showing good form against their opponents from South Yorkshire, with Blues overcoming Barnsley in their last two league encounters.

They will be hoping striker Scott Hogan can continue his good form against the Tykes, scoring three goals in his last two Championship appearances against them.

Valerien Ismael's Barnsley side will be looking to avoid three consecutive defeats after losing against Brentford and Blackburn respectively.

On their last visit to St Andrew's they suffered a 2-0 defeat under Daniel Stendel.

GOAL: Cardiff 1-0 Huddersfieldpublished at 19:36 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2020

    Kieffer Moore (35 mins)

Cardiff hit the front and it's their top scorer who has broken the deadlock.

Kieffer Moore steers home Sheyi Ojo's teasing ball into the box from the left.

Moore slipped in behind the defence to finish from six yards and bag his sixth goal of the campaign.

Huddersfield have had more possession so far, but Cardiff have created the better chances.

We've had our first goal in League One - the curse of the old club is alive and well as Anthony Grant has put Swindon ahead at former employers Crewe.

In League Two Luke Hendrie has bundled home a leveller for Grimsby against Exeter, while second-placed Cheltenham trail at Bradford and Tranmere have the lead at Oldham.

The visitors have threatened, as Cardiff keeper Alex Smithies denies Huddersfield striker Danny Ward.

He went close with his first-time effort from a narrow angle after being picked out by right-back Demeaco Duhaney.

Straight down the other end, and Mark Harris is inches away from putting Kieffer Moore's flick-on into the Terriers net.

QPR v Bristol City (19:45 GMT)

Bristol City start the evening in the final play-off place, but have had their top-six challenge dented in recent weeks.

The Robins were beaten 3-1 at Reading on the weekend, following on from a home draw against Watford.

Dean Holden's men had won three consecutive games before that.

Nahki Wells netted his side's goal at the Madejski Stadium and he returns to QPR after scoring 20 league goals during a season and a half on loan with the Hoops before his move to Bristol back in January.

Rangers have won one of their past four and sit equidistant from the play-offs and the relegation zone.

The west Londoners have lost their past five games against Bristol City, their worst losing run against the Robins since the 1920s.

  13. Rooney's Rams look to build on pointpublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2020

    Derby v Coventry (19:45 GMT)

Interim boss Wayne Rooney was denied victory in his first game in sole charge of Derby after they conceded a late equaliser against Wycombe on Saturday.

The Rams, who had lost their previous four games before Saturday's draw, remain rooted to the foot table and five points from safety.

Coventry are only three points above the drop zone themselves but go into this game on the back of picking up a point away at leaders Norwich.

Sky Blues boss Mark Robins hasn’t beaten Derby as a manager since 2009, leading his Barnsley side to a win at Pride Park in the Championship.

This is the first meeting between Derby and Coventry in any competition since 2012 in the Championship.

Cardiff have threatened from a few long throws into the Terriers box.

That, in itself, is probably not much of a surprise.

Sheyi Ojo has fired over after Sean Morrison chested down a cross.

  15. Cherries to reach the summit?published at 19:10 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2020

    Bournemouth v Preston (19:45 GMT)

    Jason TindallImage source, Rex Features

Bournemouth could go top of the table this evening if they avoid defeat, with league leaders Norwich not in action until a trip to Luton tomorrow.

Despite a 2-2 draw at Rotherham on Saturday, the Cherries remain one point behind the Canaries.

Preston are in decent form on the road in midweek fixtures, winning five of their last eight trips, including both away outings this season against QPR and Reading.

But their form is not great heading into this one after suffering back-to-back defeats. They went down 4-1 at Watford on Saturday, and 3-0 at home against Blackburn before that.

These two sides have never faced each other in the league outside of the third tier, and this is the first meeting between them in any competition since 2016.
