England were in the last four last time out of course. The desert might be a different matter.
Former Netherlands midfielder Rafael van der Vaart: "In 2010 it was a pity that we lost in the final to Spain but to play in a final, the day is special.
"It is different to any other game. We were so close to the title but Spain they deserved to win."
Yeah, loads.
Some countries can't be in the same group for political reasons, think Russia and Ukraine etc, and some are too far away from everywhere else or too cold to be lumped in with some other countries.
Fifa are all over this.
Former Italy midfielder Daniele de Rossi, looking magnificent, pays tribute to the recently departed World Cup legend Diego Maradona.
"I met him once, he was great and humble. This is the reason why the whole world woke up with a terrible feeling of loss. He will always be missed."

For Wales best case, Denmark, NI, Luxembourg, Andorra and Gibraltar (With appropriate apologies all round). Worst case Germany/England, Russia, Bosnia/Slovenia, any, any.
Steve, Cardiff
Outstanding!
The best I can offer this time is Daniele de Rossi and Rafa van der Vaart.

There are just 714 days until the World Cup in Qatar kicks off. All being well.
Who knows, to be honest.
But the first winter World Cup is approaching fast. And we need to put the 55 countries across Europe into groups to see who will be there.

That's it. It's a bit like loving a load of cup upsets early on but then ending up with a rubbish final.
Although I would love to see San Marino at a World Cup.

In the draw we need to avoid countries like Switzerland etc.. but other than that we should be ok. But I would say the suggestion that it shouldn't be seeded is ludicrous because you could have the scenario where a team like Sam Marino end up in the World Cup. It's meant to be the best teams and this ensures fairness and that the teams from Europe are the strongest possible

The 10 group runners-up will go through to the play-offs, along with the two best Nations League group winners who do not finish in the top two of their World Cup qualifying group.
The 12 play-off teams will be drawn into three separate play-off paths, each of which will comprise semi-finals and final, with the three winners heading to Qatar.
