  4. Rooney's Rams looking for capital gainspublished at 14:44 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2021

    QPR v Derby (15:00 GMT)

QPR's prospects have been boosted by back-to-back wins and that'll be something that Wayne Rooney will be keen to achieve this afternoon.

The Rams recorded their first win since the Manchester United legend was appointed on a full-time basis with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Tuesday.

That moved them out of the Championship relegation zone and they'll be desperate to put some more distance between them and the bottom three.

Handily both teams are unchanged from their midweek victories.

Five of Troy Deeney's six goals this season have come from the penalty spot

"I just hit it as hard as I can and I bet that they don't stand there. If it's not broke, don't fix it. It takes a brave keeper to stand there and take one in the dish."

The words of Watford striker Troy Deeney there.

Deeney's penalty, smashed down the middle with customary panache, gave the Hornets the lead in Friday's win at Stoke.

Ismaila Sarr quickly made it 2-0 from a Deeney pass before Steven Fletcher's late goal gave the hosts some hope of snatching a point.

Watford are now level on points with second-placed Swansea, although they have played a game more.

Good afternoon and welcome to Saturday's EFL live text.

QPR v Derby is our sole Championship fixture today, with lots of second tier sides still in FA Cup action.

The Hoops have won their past two games to alleviate some of their relegation concerns while Wayne Rooney's Rams will be looking to build on their midweek win over Bournemouth.

We've also got a load of games from League One and League Two and, with a couple of matches already under way, I think we should get this show on the road.
