    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

David Luiz sweeps up at the back as Manchester United counter quickly.

Edinson Cavani fluffs his shot on the edge of the area but manages to squeeze the ball out to Luke Shaw, whose dangerous low ball is cut out by Luiz.

Chances at both ends, this is more like it!

  2. CLOSE!published at 65 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Arsenal keep up the pressure as David de Gea keeps out a decent strike by Emile Smith Rowe.

Good spell for the Gunners at the moment.

Alexandre Lacazette is bundled off the ball right on the edge of the area by Harry Maguire and Arsenal have a free kick in a dangerous position...

  5. Postpublished at 60 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

I clearly cursed this one by harking back to great Arsenal-Manchester United clashes of the past at kick off. Getting a goal is proving to be hard work for both sides as David Luiz launches a poor shot well over from the edge of the box.

  6. Postpublished at 57 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

But they quickly take the touch count up to four with a nice move that ends with Cedric just poking the ball behind under pressure from Edinson Cavani.

Willian appears to be OK by the way, after picking up that earlier knock.

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Manchester United have only had one touch in Arsenal's box in the second half and are yet to attempt a shot this half.

  8. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Marcus Rashford tries to squeeze through Willian and Granit Xhaka to get into the box but Willian does well to block off his path, but then seems to pick up an injury as he does so.

Willian has had a positive impression since coming on, but is in some discomfort at the moment. Looks like an issue with his knee.

Chris, Woking: With Willian and Pepe on the pitch, the United defence can all sit down for the rest of the game and not be in any danger of conceding

Mark Poole: Watching Arsenal take set pieces is the same as watching Peter Ebdon play snooker.

Will, Cambridge: Willian scuffing a shot when in space followed by not beating the first man at the resulting corner sums up his time at Arsenal and why he needs to go.

  10. YELLOW CARDpublished at 52 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Aaron Wan-Bissaka lunges in on Cedric on the left by the corner flag and gives away a free kick, picking up a yellow card in the process. Nicolas Pepe drives the ball in but Wan-Bissaka is there to put behind.

Good start to the second half by Arsenal. Manchester United haven't got going yet.

  11. CLOSE!published at 50 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Crucial block by Harry Maguire as Willian gets a good cross in and Nicolas Pepe is onto to it but his goalbound shot is blocked by the Manchester United defender.

  12. CLOSE!published at 48 mins

    Arsenal 0-0 Man Utd

Big moment for Willian to make an immediate impression as a cross comes through to him unmarked on the far side of the box. He has sight of goal but struggles to get his feet right and by the time he does get a shot off Aaron Wan-Bissaka is in position to make the block.

Graham, Stockport: '79 final, ecstatic to see my new born son in hospital, despondent to find Utd 2 down when getting in the car, ecstatic when we score 2 then driving like a maniac to get home for extra time, heartbroken when they scored the winner. Never watched the highlights

Patrick, Chesterfield: I was a United fan behind the goal where Sunderland scored just finished celebrating United's equaliser when the cross came over my worst memory as a United fan

Rob, Midsomer Norton: So busy watching Alan Sunderland's goal in the 79 cup final I walked straight through my Uncle's glass door. Summed up the day as a United fan

    FT: West Brom 2-2 Fulham

    West Bromwich Albion

Sam Allardyce speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live:

“With our defensive frailties we needed three goals but we didn’t get them. We made a magnificent effort to get the third [goal] but two should have been enough.

“A change of system and a few substitutes on and playing a more simple game of football with better quality made life extremely difficult for Fulham. We have showed we can create more chances than I have seen ever since I have been here. I want to build on that.

“We should not let a goal in like that. Leaving a man in the box all on his with nobody marking him in such a crucial game is a massive defensive frailty. It is a costly loss of two points.

"If somebody is marking him [Ivan Cavaleiro] and the lad does something brilliant to get round him or above him I can accept that to a certain degree.

"We were playing too much complex football. The messages from our lads were not right. We kept giving the ball back to Fulham instead of to our players. We just simplified our game. We said ‘we have brought a big man from Galatasaray. I want you to play off him, off his feet or chest. Play down the sides of the two central defenders'. And we did it very well to get back in the game and in front.

"He [Mbaye Diagne ] has got goals and we haven’t got a lot of goals in the squad. We haven’t had a target man of his type. I am surprised he arrived here from Galatasaray to take up the fight.

"It is a great credit to the man that he has actually looked at the table and said yes I will come and fight with you. I have struggled to find anybody that has wanted to do that in the whole of January. Hopefully he can help us create and score more goals.

"It leaves us in a very precarious position. Stopping losing is a very important thing but the win today would have made a big difference. Going to Sheffield with a win would have been massive."

Amrul Choudhury: Someone wake me up when there is a goal!

Regular Jon: United should be walking this but they don’t feel like sticking it in the back of the net obviously.

Aamer Iqbal: Arsenal clearly have influential players missing. This side would not have beaten Southampton the other night.
