    Barelona 0-0 Cadiz

The biggest moment of the game so far, this.

Antoine Griezmann takes a touch in the box after being found by Pedri and the Frenchman is closed down. The effort is wastefully blazed.

It could have been a different story if Griezmann just fired first time.

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Cadiz looking sharp on the counter attack.

Their raid down the left however comes to nothing as Salvi Sánchez is shut down.

  3. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembélé have both tried their luck from outside the box now. They really want that opener.

  4. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

    Now Lionel Messi threatens.

He gets onto a ball from Sergio Busquets, but his effort is deflected wide.

His wait for a goal again Cadiz continues.

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Oh this is not far away from the opener at all!

The ball eventually finds Jordi Alba and he fires just off target. Barca really knocking on the door now.

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Barcelona with a string of corners in the past few minutes.

So far little danger is being caused.

The latest is taken short and Jordi Alba sends in a dangerous cross from the left. Jeremías Ledesma is acrobatic with his effort to deal with the danger... and we have another corner.

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Even after 505 La Liga appearances, can Messi come up with a first today?

The Argentine has scored against 37 of the 40 sides he has faced in Spain’s top flight, he has failed to do it only against Cádiz (two appearances), Xerez (two appearances) and Real Murcia (one appearances).

So far there hasn't been any real hint that Messi is going to change that (but it is still very early).

  8. Postpublished at 9 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

It comes to nothing as Jeremías Ledesma covers the danger with ease.

It leads to a quick counter attack, but Marc-André ter Stegen is untroubled by the eventual shot.

  9. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Barcelona with a free-kick on the edge of the area as Ousmane Dembélé is brought down.

It offers Barcelona's first real chance...

  10. Postpublished at 13:08 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2021

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Messi is not the only Barca player making a milestone appearance, with midfielder Sergio Busquets bringing up the big 400!

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Cadiz are not seeing much of the ball early on… but they are not exactly at side that need a small thing like possession to beat Barca.

They pulled off their surprise victory against Barca in December with just 18% possession. It was somewhat of a counter-attacking masterclass.

    Barcelona 0-0 Cadiz

Pedri with an early party trick for Barcelona.

He take the ball on the edge of the box and flicks it around a defender with a neat backheel trying to find Lionel Messi.

It comes to nothing, but looked neat.

Cadiz have been doing it tough in recent weeks and head to the Nou Camp on a run of four straight defeats.

One would give them little hope against Lionel Messi and Co. And yet, very recent history tells another story...

It was only in December that Cadiz - Spanish football's own Crazy Gang - upstaged the Catalans 2-1.

They have also got the better of Real Madrid this season, so they certainly have it in them to pull off the unexpected.

That Barca line-up is unchanged from THAT Champions League defeat on Tuesday.

Ronald Koeman will want a response.

    Barcelona v Cadiz (13:00 GMT)

Another day, another Lionel Messi record.

We have become somewhat used to the Argentine rewriting the record books with his scoring wizardry. Today's milestone really solidifies just how long he has been important to Barca, as he makes his 506th La Liga appearance for the club.

The 33-year-old is about break former team-mate Xavi’s record for most games for the Catalan club in Spain's top flight.

Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen, Alba, Piqué, Lenglet, Dest, Busquets, De Jong, Pedri, Messi, Dembélé, Griezmann.

Cadiz XI: Ledesma, Carcelén, Espino, Fali, Mauro, Izquierdo, Perea, Sánchez, Ander Garrido, Negredo, Sobrino.

Before we look ahead to the action let's quickly recap what's happened in La Liga already this weekend.

The title race has gotten a whole lot tighter after Levante shocked leaders Atletico Madrid 2-0 on Saturday.

It was Levante's first win at Atletico in the league, and it was also the first home league defeat for Diego Simeone's side since December 2019.

Their city rivals Real Madrid moved to within three points of the summit with a hard-earned 1-0 victory against relegation-threatened Real Valladolid later in the day.

Ball is in Barca's court court now...
