Summary

  • Barnsley & Derby play out dreary goalless draw

  • Tykes denied eighth win in a row, Rams now four without victory

  1. SUBSTITUTIONSpublished at 58 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

    Triple substitution for the hosts.

Callum Styles, Conor Chaplin and Cauley Woodrow head off.

Jordan Williams, Victor Adeboyejo and Carlton Morris enter the fray.

Can the changes by Valerien Ismael inject some impetus into the Tykes side?

  2. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Derby winger Kamil Jozwiak goes down in the box under the challenge of Toby Sibbick.

The two were chasing a long ball forward and Sibbick did enough to hold off the Pole.

Referee Keith Stroud decides it is not a penalty.

  3. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

The Rams finally call Brad Collins into action.

The Tykes goalkeeper fields a low strike from Graeme Shinnie from just outside the box, which is straight at him.

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Derby have managed to take the sting out of the hosts' fast start to the second half.

The Rams look to get Kamil Jozwiak in behind the Tykes defence with a ball over the top, but the Pole is flagged offside.

Home keeper Brad Collins is yet to have a save to make this evening.

  5. Postpublished at 50 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Will Barnsley come to regret that missed opportunity by Conor Chaplin?

If he had managed to divert the ball to either side of the goalkeeper, it'd be 1-0 to the hosts.

  6. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

The hosts have started the second half with a sustained period of pressure.

Callum Brittain has a low cross blocked from inside the box and then Daryl Dike flicks a cross into the arms of visiting keeper Kelle Roos.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 46 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

How did Conor Chaplin not score?

Alex Mowatt curls a beautiful ball into the Rams box and Chaplin slides in to meet it six yards out.

But his effort is straight at Derby keeper Kelle Roos and the Dutchman somehow manages to divert the ball behind for a corner.

I don't think Roos knew too much about it, and the ball squirmed across goal and just wide.

Easily the best chance of the game so far.

  8. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 10 March 2021

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Time for the second half at Oakwell as Derby get things going again.

Hopefully I'll have some goalmouth action to bring you before full-time.

I can't foresee more than one goal judging by the way the first 45 minutes went.

Away from the Championship, there are also matches in the Premier League and Champions League this evening.

Manchester City have beaten Southampton 5-2 to stretch their lead at the top of the top flight to 14 points.

And Liverpool's European tie at home to RB Leipzig is about to kick-off too, which you can follow on the BBC Sport website and app by clicking here.

    HT: Barnsley 0-0 Derby

I'm struggling to decide what the best chance of the game has been.

The only effort on target has been a weak header from Tykes striker Daryl Dike.

But the American had a better chance which he miscued, while Callum Brittain has flashed an effort over the Rams bar.

The visitors have barely threatened, but Barnsley keeper Brad Collins has had to be alert to come out of his box and clear a few balls forward.

Chances have been at a premium in South Yorkshire.

This game has really been one for the purists.

There has been little quality from either side, although playing conditions have been far from ideal.

  12. Postpublished at 45+1 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

The ball is teed up for Colin Kazim-Richards to strike at goal.

But Alex Mowatt rushes out of defence and the Barnsley midfielder blocks the shot, which looked to be heading on target.

  13. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Lee Gregory wins a free-kick some 30 yards out for Derby as Mads Anderson clatters into the striker.

It's centrally located for the Rams to do something here.

We'll have two minutes of added time at the end of the first half.

  14. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Barnsley keeper Brad Collins is quickly out of his box to clear the ball away from in front of Kamil Jozwiak.

There was almost a mix-up in the home defence which let the Rams winger in on goal.

  15. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Five minutes to the break and Derby have offered pretty much nothing going forward.

Lee Gregory has come into the side up front, but has barely had a sniff of the ball.

  16. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

The set-piece is headed away by Andre Wisdom.

The ball falls back to Alex Mowatt, but his follow-up delivery is headed clear by Matt Clarke.

The Tykes should have made more of that free-kick.

  17. Postpublished at 37 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

An opportunity for Barnsley to swing a ball into the Derby box, as Daryl Dike is fouled by Teden Mengi.

Alex Mowatt is over the ball, 25 yards out on the left hand side of the area.

  18. Postpublished at 36 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

This time Daryl Dike does get a header on target, but it's too far out to get any real power on the ball.

He diverts a cross from Callum Styles straight into the arms of Derby keeper Kelle Roos.

Dike was only just inside the Rams box, so couldn't do much with that one.

  19. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Barnsley 0-0 Derby

Clearest opening of the game so far, but Daryl Dike completely miscues his header from Callum Brittain's cross in from the right.

The Barnsley striker had shrugged off his defender on the edge of the six yard box but headed well wide of the near post.

He's frustrated with himself, and rightly.

Half an hour gone at Oakwell and it's been a scrappy encounter.

This picture just about sums it up. The game is calling out for a bit of quality from either side.
