A disappointing night for Northern Ireland.

Let's hope the next time they play a World Cup qualifier at home times will be different and Windsor Park will be bouncing with fans.

Remember, it's not over until it's over.

    Thanks for your company.

    Until next time...

  2. 'We lacked cuteness in and around the box'published at 22:06 British Summer Time 31 March 2021

    FT:Northern Ireland 0-0 Bulgaria

Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough, speaking to Sky Sports: "It's a disappointing result but I can't fault the lads for their effort. We tried to create a tempo. We tried going a different way in the last 20 minutes.

"The effort was there. We created 13 or 14 efforts on goal but lacked a finishing touch. It's the drop of the ball. Listen, it's not falling for them at the moment. They're snatching at things and they have to try and relax. We were lacking that bit of cuteness in and around the box.

"We have to go and beat the likes of Switzerland away from home. We've done it before and got big results away from home."

  3. 'Damaging draw'published at 21:59 British Summer Time 31 March 2021

After losing 2-0 to Italy in their qualifier last week, Northern Ireland's hopes of qualification for a first World Cup finals since 1986 now look bleak with home and away matches away to Switzerland still to be played after they resume their campaign in September.

What was a damaging draw could have been a crushing defeat if Bailey Peacock-Farrell had not dived full-stretch to turn an Dimitar Iliev header from an injury-time corner round the post.

    FT: Northern Ireland 0-0 Bulgaria

Northern Ireland have failed to score in each of their past five World Cup qualifying games, in a run dating back to October 2017.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell only had to make one save in this game - indeed, this was the fewest shots (3) that Northern Ireland have faced in a World Cup/European Championship qualifier since September 2017.

    FT: Northern Ireland 0-0 Bulgaria

Northern Ireland are still looking for a first win during 90 minutes in 11 matches under Ian Baraclough.

Despite failing to win, they kept their first clean sheet in 12 games across all competitions, with tonight’s shut-out being their first since a 0-0 draw versus the Netherlands in November 2019.

  6. NI need an identitypublished at 21:48 British Summer Time 31 March 2021

    FT: Northern Ireland 0-0 Bulgaria

    Gareth McAuley
Former Northern Ireland defender on BBC Radio Ulster

I feel a bit flat. We tried, we huffed and puffed but Bulgaria came not to lose the game and the signs of that were there from the start. Picking the bones out of it, what is our identity as a team? We are in limbo of two or three different styles and we need an identity before we can move on.
