  1. Rangers beaten in ill-tempered gamepublished at 09:18 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Rangers 0-2 Slavia Prague (agg 1-3)

Rangers were knocked out after they were beaten at Ibrox for the first time in just over a year.

Peter Olayinka's first-half header gave the Czech champions the lead following a 1-1 draw in Prague, and Nicolae Stanciu doubled the advantage after Leon Balogun was shown a second yellow.

Rangers were already down to 10 by then, Kemar Roofe having been sent off within six minutes of coming on for catching goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar in the face with his boot.

There was still time for further tumult in the closing minutes. A strong challenge by Connor Goldson precipitated a melee, and Ondrej Kudela uttered something to Glen Kamara while covering his mouth with a hand.

That enraged Rangers' players, with Kamara, Goldson and Bongani Zungu particularly incensed, and manager Steven Gerrard confirmed afterwards that Kamara told him he was racially abused, with other players also having heard the comments.

  2. 'We were nowhere near the levels'published at 09:14 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

    Arsenal 0-1 Olympiakos (agg 3-2)

    Arsenal

Speaking after his side's qualification, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: "Really happy to be through. Sometimes we have to be fair with ourselves - we were nowhere near the levels we could be.

"We were unstable with the ball and we gave it away. It's impossible when you give the ball away to have any structure. We created enough chances to win but were nowhere near the levels in which we can perform.

"We can't use any excuses. We had fresh players in the side. We started the game really well but then we had a lack of stability. We need to keep the ball and play some passes together and not just keep giving the ball away in transitions.

"We'll get better. When it comes to decision-making and execution, it's a little bit more difficult.

"We need another win in the Premier League and it's a big chance after the international break to get a run together."

  3. Arsenal through despite defeatpublished at 09:03 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

    Arsenal 0-1 Olympiakos (agg 3-2)

Arsenal will join Manchester United in the hat for the Europa League quarter-final despite losing against Olympiakos in their last-16 second leg.

Leading 3-1 from the game in Greece, the Gunners were comfortable throughout the first half in London.

Some nerves began to show after Youssef El-Arabi's shot found the net via a deflection off Gabriel to give the visitors hope of repeating last season's shock - when they knocked the Gunners out of the Europa League in the last 32 by scoring in the final minute of extra time at Emirates Stadium.

But it was not to be as Arsenal managed the remainder of the game, helped by a red card shown to Ousseynou Ba for dissent late on.

Mike: A gutless and utterly disgusting performance by Spurs. The managers' are the ones who pay the price but a good core of these players are the same ones that got Poch sacked. A clear out is needed in the summer. Sorry is not good enough any more

  5. Henderson 'should have done that last week'published at 08:50 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Another clean sheet for Manchester United last night, their sixth in seven games.

The only goal conceded was AC Milan's injury-time equaliser in the first-leg of their Europa League tie last week, which manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer evidently has not forgotten given the similarity to the chance Zlatan Ibrahimovic had last night, which Dean Henderson saved.

"It was a great save," said Solskjaer. "But it was save Dean should have made last week, very similar."

United have not conceded away from Old Trafford since the draw at West Brom on 14 February.

They are away again at Leicester in the FA Cup on Sunday.

  6. Henderson stakes his claimpublished at 08:40 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

While Paul Pogba provided the difference at one end of the pitch, United will also leave Italy thankful for goalkeeper Dean Henderson's form at the other.

The 24-year-old was criticised in the aftermath of the first leg for failing to save Simon Kjaer's added-time equaliser but he atoned in perfect fashion.

His reflex save to deny Zlatan Ibrahimovic only told part of the story of a near faultless display.

Henderson has now kept 11 clean sheets in 18 appearances for the club and is making a determined case to be considered ahead of long-time number one David de Gea.

  7. Pogba's immediate impactpublished at 08:33 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

Paul Pogba made an immediate impact on his return to first-team action for Manchester United last night.

Three minutes after replacing Marcus Rashford at half-time in the San Siro, he scored the only goal.

It was a decent effort considering he has missed 10 games with a thigh injury.

"Paul looked like he had been out for six weeks," said manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"He couldn’t have played more than 45 minutes last night.

"The boys have done fantastically well without him but we know his qualities."

United have won eight games by a single goal since the start of 2021.

Pogba has scored the winner in three, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay two each and the other was a Craig Dawson own goal.

  8. Pogba steers Man Utd into the quarter-finalspublished at 08:24 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

AC Milan 0-1 Man Utd (agg 1-2)

It was better news for Jose Mourinho's former club, as Man Utd beat AC Milan to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Paul Pogba returned from injury to score the winner, just three minutes after being introduced as a half-time substitute in the second leg of an evenly poised last-16 tie.

The 28-year-old was making his first appearance in the competition this season, after coming back from a thigh injury which had kept him out since 6 February.

  9. Lloris wades inpublished at 08:17 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (AET, agg 3-2)

Jose Mourinho was not the only one to wade into the Spurs players immediately after the defeat...

France's World Cup-winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris gave a brutally honest assessment of his team's performance and an insight into the issues troubling the club.

"It's a disgrace," he told BT Sport. "I hope everyone in the changing room feels responsible. The taste of the defeat is more than painful and we are all responsible.

"We are a club full of ambition but the team at the moment is a reflection of what is going on in the club. Lack of basics, lack of fundamentals. Mentally we should be stronger, more competitive.

"At this level, when you are not ready, you pay - and if you don't respect the opponent, it's punished. The blame is on all the team, all the club. We are guilty."

  11. 'I can only apologise to Tottenham supporters'published at 08:04 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (AET, agg 3-2)

    Tottenham Hotspur

More from Jose Mourinho's post match interview now...

"I am disappointed for a difference of attitude of one team to another," said Mourinho. "I feel sorry that my team is the team that didn't bring to the game not just the basics of football but the basics of life, which is to respect our jobs and to give everything.

"I can only apologise to the Tottenham supporters. I hope they feel the same way I feel. Today is live or die - and in this moment, we die.

"For the respect I have for my career and my job, every match is important," Mourinho said. "For every Tottenham fan at home, every match matters. Another attitude is needed. What I feel is much more than sadness.

"I just left the Dinamo dressing room where I went to praise the guys and I feel sorry it is not my team who won the game based on attitude and compromise. I feel more than sad.

"Football is not just about players who think they have more quality than others. The basis of football is attitude. They beat us on that."

  12. 'The basics of life'published at 07:58 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (AET, agg 3-2)

Jose Mourinho apologised to the Tottenham fans and said his players failed "at the basics of life" after they threw away a 2-0 lead to be knocked out of the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb.

A second-leg display described as "diabolical" and "a disaster" by their ex-player and manager Glenn Hoddle saw Spurs eliminated in the last 16 in Croatia after extra time.

"They [Dinamo] left sweat, energy, blood. In the end they left even tears of happiness," Mourinho told BT Sport. "They were very humble and committed. I have to praise them.

"On the other side, my team - I repeat, my team - didn't look like it was playing an important match. If for any one of them it is not important, for me it is."

  13. Spurs crash out in Zagrebpublished at 07:49 Greenwich Mean Time 19 March 2021

Dinamo Zagreb 3-0 Tottenham (AET, agg 3-2)

So let's start with the big overnight story...

Tottenham were knocked out of the Europa League as a sublime hat-trick from Mislav Orsic completed a remarkable second-leg turnaround for Dinamo Zagreb.

Leading 2-0 after a one-sided first encounter in London seven days earlier, Spurs - who made seven changes - paid the price for a desperately poor performance against the Croatian champions.

Orsic deservedly curled the hosts ahead on the night with a wonderful strike from the edge of the box and swept home Iyayi Atiemwen's cross to bring the tie level in Zagreb.

He added a superb third at the start of the second period of extra time, driving at a terrified Tottenham defence before firing another fine finish into Hugo Lloris' bottom corner.
