Reading salvaged a point with an added-time equaliser against Cardiff to keep intact their hopes of making the play-offs.

Blackburn, meanwhile, came from behind to beat Derby and deepen the Rams' relegation concerns.

Cardiff City manager Mick McCarthy tells Sky Sports: "I'm sick of conceding late goals. We're sick of it.

"I'm not bothered if they [Reading] deserve it or not - they shouldn't get it.

"It's so blooming annoying I can't tell you!

"They [Cardiff players] are not soft. It was a great performance but they just let their guard down.

"Sometimes you've got to toughen up, you're feeling knackered but you've got to make sure that ball doesn't end up in the net.

"We let ourselves down by conceding late on."

Reading manager Veljko Paunovic tells Sky Sports: "We immediately looked to show a reaction after Cardiff's goal.

"Fortunately the goal came. We showed that we will never give up.

"We created chances and in the second half we were very close to taking the lead.

"There was a good impact from our players who came on from the bench.

"Nobody's happy with a point today but, with that point, we'll see how the other results go this weekend.

"We will keep going and we will never give up."

Reading goalscorer Yakou Meite tells Sky Sports: "I think it was an important goal because we were 1-0 down near the end of the game.

"We're disappointed because we deserved more and we had chances - but thankfully we scored a late goal.

"We always kept believing because that's what we've always done this season.

"There are four games left and we'll try to win as many as we can. We have no time to think about the past."

That's was the only time the centre-backs lost a header in between the sticks

Well, after a forgettable first 86 minutes, that was a dramatic ending to the match.

Kieffer Moore's penalty looked to have won it for Cardiff, only for Yakou Meite to head Reading level four minutes into injury time.

Reading ended the game strongly, but is a point enough to keep them in the hunt for a play-off place?

With four matches left, they are now four points adrift of the top six, having played a game more than Barnsley in sixth.

The final whistle goes and Blackburn's first win in eight games has pretty much secured their Championship status.

Derby have now suffered a third straight defeat and are still in danger of relegation.

The Rams players head to referee Steve Martin and protest they should have had a penalty right at the end of injury time. They certainly have a case.

Derby have late appeals for a penalty denied as Festy Ebosele goes to ground in the box.

Ovie Ejaria swings in a cross from the left wing but it falls into the arms of Cardiff keeper Alex Smithies.

Reading's play-off aspirations are fading fast.

Reading make three late substitutions.

Sone Aluko, Sam Baldock and Dejan Tetek replace Andy Yiadom, Omar Richards and Michael Olise.

This time he gets down low to push away a close-range header from Derby striker Colin Kazim-Richards.

It's just not happening for Reading.

Ovie Ejaria again slaloms his way into Cardiff's penalty area and, despite getting himself into a promising position, he loses his balance and the chance is gone.
