It's not quite working for Barca and frustration is beginning to creep into their play. Getafe are very well organised at the back and well drilled.

Barca's title rivals will be very happy with how this is going. Getafe look decent on the counter and already have form for upsets after beating Ronald Koeman's side earlier in the season.

Messi finds Sergi Roberto whose cross is headed back into the path of Messi who attempts a volley which is comfortably saved.

By the way, Oscar Mingueza is back on the pitch after that early knock. Barca have spent most of their time since conceding camped inside Getafe's half but cannot find an opening.

Fifteen minutes on the clock. Messi has hit the bar and scored a belter while Getafe have forced an equaliser. This is shaping up to be a cracker.

Fair play to Getafe. Barca's lead lasted for four minutes.

This doesn't look good for Barca. Oscar Mingueza has taken a heavy knock and it doesn't look like he can continue. Barca are down to 10 men as it stands.

An early booking for Clement Lenglet who brings down Juan Iglesias who is driving at the Barca defence. Free-kick to Getafe and a first sight at goal.

This already look like it is going to be an awfully long night for Getafe.

Lionel Messi creates space on the edge of the box and digs out a shot which crashes against the under side of the bar before being cleared.

The keeper didn't know much about that. Messi cannot believe it didn't cross the line.

It's a back three for Barca who are already in their stride. Getafe gave away possession quickly after kick-off and they're already struggling to get the ball back.

And it's Getafe who get the game under way.

The two teams are in the tunnel. It's that wide that both sets of players can pretty much line up safely together. It's Getafe who emerge first and form a guard of honour for their hosts who won the Copa del Rey last weekend.

Getafe are 15th in La Liga with a four-point safety cushion.

They haven't been able to hit the heights of the previous two campaigns when they finished fifth and eighth in Spain's top-flight.

However, they do have a famous win this season after beating Barca 1-0 at home in October.

Asked on Wednesday about the European Super League, Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman said: "Everyone's talking about the Super League and the Champions League, but Uefa aren't paying any attention to the players about the number of games.

"The only thing they care about is money. In La Liga, it's the same. Look at the scheduling. Tomorrow we play at 10pm - we need to protect the players."

Barcelona - along with Real Madrid and Juventus - have not withdrawn from the European Super League, although Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli said the project could not now proceed.

Speaking earlier on Thursday, Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, said: "If it [the Super League] was good for football, as [Florentino] Perez has said, they wouldn't have done it behind our backs."

On whether there would be sanctions from La Liga for the Spanish clubs, he added: "We are not talking about sanctions.

"Everyone wants to cut people's heads off. We have to have a procedure and we have to see how it looks in the end. These clubs have been sanctioned by their own fans."
