Elsewhere on Wednesday, Inter Milan moved a step closer to ending Juventus' nine-year stranglehold of the Serie A title by beating Sassuolo 2-1 to move 11 points clear at the top of the table.

Romelu Lukaku headed home the opener from an Ashley Young assist before Lautaro Martinez made it 2-0 and Hamed Traore curled home a late consolation for Sassuolo.

Juve also won as they beat Napoli 2-1 to climb into third place, one point behind AC Milan in second.

However, Juve are 12 points behind Inter with nine games remaining and look unlikely to claim a 10th title in a row.

    Real Sociedad 1-1 Athletic Bilbao

Marcelo Bielsa led Athletic Bilbao to the Copa del Rey final in 2011-12, and they were runners-up again on Saturday after a 1-0 defeat by Real Sociedad, who ended a 34-year wait for the Spanish cup.

The two sides met again on Wednesday, playing out a 1-1 draw, and here are the best goals from the latest round of La Liga fixtures...

  7. 'If we don't take the ball off City, we know the consequence'published at 10:30 British Summer Time 8 April 2021

Man City v Leeds (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Finally from Marcelo Bielsa, the Argentine said he believes stopping Manchester City having so much possession is the key to beating the Premier League leaders, although he was asked about Leeds managing just one win against a top-seven team so far this season.

"It's our objective to modify this," he said. "There's a lot of teams in a similar position to us who have been able to beat the top six. That's to say it's possible and we haven't managed to achieve it yet.

"If a team is able to stop the other team from monopolising the ball and attack them, that is good," added the Leeds boss. "If we're not able to take the ball off City, we know the consequence."

  10. Guardiola 'creates football full of surprises'published at 10:14 British Summer Time 8 April 2021

Man City v Leeds (Sat, 12:30 BST)

    Leeds United

Pep Guardiola has often spoken of his respect for Marcelo Bielsa, which has been reciprocated by the Leeds boss. The Argentine says that, again, he expects Manchester City to keep his side guessing.

"The games against teams who have the capacity to have answers or do the unexpected make the games full of surprises," he said. "When I classify Guardiola's team as magical, I wasn't calling him a magician. What I was trying to say was that in the process, he creates so many surprising attacks. Of course, this is supported by the quality of his players. There is a method which stimulates what they do. This is the difficult thing to expect. From the outside it looks as though the managers has done something magical.

"There's a method that unites individuality with what he proposes. This creates football full of surprises. There's nothing nicer for a spectator than to see something they did not expect. To say the opposite is when you know what's going to happen. It creates boredom."

Manchester City had a tough Champions League game on Tuesday, edging a 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund, so Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa was asked if this was a good time to face the Premier League leaders.

"Teams like City are prepared to play twice a week and play in different competitions," he said.

"To play in a team like this is not just enough to be good, you have to retain that competitive spirit every three days."

    Leeds United

Leeds took the game to Manchester City in the reverse fixture and claimed a 1-1 draw at Elland Road in October.

At the time, Leeds were above City in the Premier League table but Pep Guardiola's men are now runaway leaders while Leeds are joint-10th after wins over Fulham and Sheffield United.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said: "Both teams' aims are accentuated in creativity and this helps the spectacle.

"The team will be subject to a big, big test from the leaders City and we will see how the team has evolved."

With Liam Cooper, Rodrigo and Pablo Hernandez having returned to Leeds' matchday squad for last Saturday's win over Sheffield United, midfielder Adam Forshaw is the only player who remains out injured.

On-loan Manchester City winger Jack Harrison, who claimed a goal and an assist last weekend, is unable to face his parent club on Saturday though.

Speaking at his news conference a few moments ago, Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa said: "We would have hoped to have counted on him, especially as his last performances have been good, but we knew about the rule that impeded him from playing.

"Like in all the positions, we have more than one option and we are in condition to replace him."

  19. National League no-confidence vote planpublished at 09:13 British Summer Time 8 April 2021

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

The National League will be asked to sanction an emergency general meeting to allow clubs to vote on a no-confidence motion against the Board and chairman Brian Barwick.

A message has been sent to clubs from Maidstone United and Dorking confirming they have received enough messages of support for their plan, which was launched two weeks ago, to push on through official channels.

BBC Sport understands the request will be made this week, although it is not known when the vote will be held.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that Barwick would leave the organisation after six years at the end of the season.

However, given the general chaos at the National League this season, which has also seen the exit of chief executive Mike Tattersall at the end of December, Maidstone and Dorking feel only replacing the entire Board will provide the clubs with the confidence required to move forward.

Maidstone and Dorking also say they want 'a constructive exchange of views' around the resolution of governance issues within the National League.

Glasgow's Hampden ParkImage source, PA Media

The deadline for the 12 host cities of Euro 2020 to announce their plans for fan attendance has passed - so what is each country's position?

Host associations had been asked to submit plans to accept fans by 7 April. London, Glasgow, Dublin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, St Petersburg, Bilbao, Munich, Budapest, Baku, Rome and Bucharest are all due to host matches for the tournament, which has been delayed a year because of the pandemic and will take place between 11 June and 11 July.

With Uefa expected to make a final decision on host cities at an executive committee meeting on 19 April, and all host cities required to guarantee fan presence, BBC Sport takes a look at the proposals of each.
