    Lionel Messi

Goal number 26 of the season!

Brilliant link up play between Antoine Griezmann and Lionel Messi, the latter finding the former inside the box. Griezmann spins and waits for the overlap from Messi before teeing up his team-mate who then slots into the far corner.

Great move, great finish. Barcelona heading top as things stand.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21 mins

    Barcelona 0-0 Granada

Roberto Soldado is the first player to go into the book as he catches Antoine Griezmann with a late challenge.

With five changes and a raft of injuries going into this game, Granada have done well to limit Barcelona to just the one shot on target so far.

  3. CLOSE!published at 19 mins

    Now Aaron is properly tested!

Sergio Busquets finds Lionel Messi inside the box with a lovely threaded pass. Messi turns and lays the ball off for Antoine Griezmann, who drives a low effort that Aaron gets down well to save.

For all of Barcelona's possessional dominance they've not done anything yet to concern Aaron in the Granada goal. He is brought into his first bit of action of the game with a routine catch from a Lionel Messi cross.

Ooh, first real chance for Barcelona as Sergi Roberto pokes the ball through the Granada defence for Frenkie de Jong, he cuts it back but the ball is just behind Lionel Messi before Jordi Alba bends an effort wide.

    Barcelona 0-0 Granada

Barcelona have a free kick around 30/35 yards from goal. Lionel Messi is over it but plays it short to Jordi Alba, whose cross hits Dimitri Foulquier in a pretty delicate spot. He's going to need a couple of minutes.

Plenty of Barcelona possession in the early stages, although it is the visitors who are the first to embark on a real attack as Dimitri Foulquier is sent away down the flank but his low cross is cleared.

  15. An unexpected turnaround?published at 17:41 British Summer Time 29 April 2021

Now normally Barcelona being in the battle for the La Liga title wouldn't be a surprise but, given the awful start they had this season, seeing them up there and well in the hunt is a bit unexpected.

Even Barca boss Ronald Koeman is a bit shocked.

"If you look back, it's an unexpected situation," he said.

An incredible turnaround in form since the start of this year has them firmly in the fight. Barcelona have won 15 of their 17 league games in 2021 and head into tonight's game against Granada knowing a win will send them top of the table.

With six games to go, Koeman's side are in a very good place. Three points against Granada and they will be in a position few thought would be possible a few months ago.
