Liverpool fan Tyler who spent £1,000 on his ticket, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "We got here at seven and started queuing and about half an hour goes by and no barriers were opening. They tear gassed the barrier next to us, both sides so we saw people running.
"We tried getting in but our tickets were broken. They were throwing people out, punching people, doing everything they could to stop them getting in.
"There were people in wheelchairs. Old lads with walking sticks. It was not just odd people being sprayed it was groups and groups of people. We got told about 45 minutes before that our end was filled while there were thousands outside.
"I found out today I was getting a ticket and it was the happiest I have been in a long time. To go in and not have my ticket scanned three times and be pushed and shoved y stewards is not on. We have no idea what we are going to do.
"Thousands of people got here at six o'clock when the gates opened for them to wait until nine and the gates still not be open."

Neil: Wasn't Benzema 2 yards offside from the initial pass through? Didn't look complicated to me.
Adam: Can't believe how many people and especially ex-players don't know the rules! That's 100% offside, doesn't matter "who it touched last", it's the last deliberate contact that counts!
The Red Squirrel: Deflection does not an offside make. Correct decision, so settle down armchair experts.

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen on BT Sport: "Even though Carlo Ancelotti has been outplayed, I think he will be the happier of the two managers. This is what Real Madrid do."

The players are coming back out for the second half now.
Steve Douglas from the Associated Press speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "From my personal aspect we saw reports of crowd issues about 40 minutes before kick-off. I went out and took videos of two fans getting through the security perimeter and legging it on to the concourse hoping the get into the arena.
"On both occasions the stewards and officials caught up with them, grappled them to the floor and frogmarched them out.
"On the second occasion I was really close to getting video footage and one of the security guards came up to me, grabbed me by the arm and frogmarched into the hut next to the gate and said various things in French and told me I had to delete all the video footage I had took.
"By that stage he had taken off my accreditation and I was concerned that I would not be able to cover the match. He went through all my videos of my kids and stuff and then he gave my phone and accreditation back and I was allowed back in. He didn't hurt me but it was a bit worrying."
Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "I still don't understand it. If I am a Real Madrid player, I am going bananas."
Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid
A player in an offside position at the moment the ball is played or touched by a team-mate is only penalised on becoming involved in active play by...
gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
Former referee Peter Walton on BT Sport: "It is easy. Benzema is in an offside position. The offence is committed if the ball is deliberately played back to him.
"Fabinho, the ball deflects off him, he doesn't deliberately play the ball to him. He doesn’t play Benzema onside. It's only deemed onside if the Liverpool player has delibertaeoly played it."

Liverpool have had the better of that first half but Real Madrid always have an ominous air about them and they delivered a couple of warnings late in that first half.
Real may look like they are being outplayed but you cannot take your eyes off them for a moment.

There is a reason Real Madrid are here and with those two up front they really have a good opportunity.

Matt: How that can be given as offside is beyond me, clearly came off Fabinho's knee and fell to Benzema. Is VAR really giving us all the correct decisions it claims to?
Rupert: Offside because valverde got a touch then the deflection off the Liverpool player. When valverde gets the touch benzema is offside.

Liverpool pushed Real Madrid back and looked dangerous on the break, with two good chances by their standards.
It was typical Real Madrid, they do concede chances and if you don't take them they punish you with the ability they have up front. The run in behind was exceptional and he could have scored earlier.
Liverpool got away with one there.

Liverpool really dominated the first half and that Courtois save was a big moment. But then at the end of the first half that controversy. We thought the goal was going to be awarded and that is Real Madrid's danger.

Tom McQuillin: Why is that offside? The ball comes off Fabinho, not the Real Madrid player? In fact it never touches the Madrid forward. VAR have completely botched that decision
Sulaimon Adelekan: Spot on decision. It happened to Harry Kane against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi final.
Josh Hammond: Wait, the ball came off a Liverpool player. Despite Benzema being behind the keeper surely that should count?
Liverpool 0-0 Real Madrid
So that Real Madrid chance, which was tough to explain in real time because so much was happening.
Karim Benzema controlled a high ball into the box and then took a couple of touches, drawing Alisson out. He tried to go round the keeper but lost the ball.
Ibrahima Konate and Alisson made a mess of it and then three players went for the ball, which bounced to Karim Benzema, who slotted home.
It looked like Fabinho got the last touch before Benzema... but the goal was disallowed for offside. It will be interesting to find out why. If we ever find out.
