  1. Good nightpublished at 20:28 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

Breidablik it is for Aberdeen. The Icelanders have pulled off something of a surprise to beat Austria Vienna 2-1 after a 1-1 draw last week.

Hibs will need to mug up on Riejka, who are cruising with a 3-0 aggregate lead.

Join us next week for all of the European action. Rangers get that started away to Malmo on Tuesday.

By then the SPFL season will be in full swing as all four leagues kick off across the weekend. You can't move for football... And that's the way we like it!

Well, next Thursday is going to be a busy old night.

Aberdeen and Hibs continue in the Conference League, while Celtic and St Johnstone will be in Europa League action.

Celtic go to the Czech Republic to take on Jablonec and the Saints go to Istanbul to meet Galatasaray.

That's also going to mean a lot of Sunday games in the Premiership over the next few weeks.

  4. Aberdeen 'victim of own success' - Glasspublished at 20:13 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

FT: BK Hacken 2-0 Aberdeen (3-5)

Aberdeen manager Stephen Glass has been giving his reaction from Gothenburg on BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

"I don't think it got to the stage of nervy but it was a bit more frantic at the end than we would have liked," he said.

"We had chances in the first half that would've killed it. I think what you saw tonight was a Hacken team playing carefree - and any team playing like that can be dangerous. That shows the level of performance we put in last week and how impressive a result it was.

"In essence we were a victim of our own success last week. You give a team a chance to play carefree, they had absolutely nothing to lose.

"It was a dangerous game. We didn't annihilate them in the first leg, we were fantastic against a good team and they showed what they're capable of tonight.

"When it was 50/50 in front of our fans at Pittodrie we showed what we were all about."

He also clears up the Declan Gallagher booking, saying the referee thought the substitute was holding up play as the ball rolled his way on the sidelines.

  8. 'The bulk of what we did was good'published at 19:58 British Summer Time 29 July 2021

FT: Santa Coloma 1-2 Hibernian (1-5)

"When you go behind it's not ideal," Hibs head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Sportsound over the phone from Andorra.

"Before that we had much more control of the game, we missed a lot of opportunities in the first half in particular. The reaction to going behind was good and the bulk of what we did tonight was good."

    On a much-changed midfield:

"Jake Doyle-Hayes was one we're very pleased to bring to the club, he had an injury in pre-season but has recovered well. With Josh Campbell he hasn't really had an opportunity at Hibs so had to go on loan, but he's had an impressive pre-season and played a big part in the second goal."

    Aims for the new campaign:

"Last season was my first full season and we were really clear with our goals to reach Europe and win a domestic cup. We got one and were very close to the other. Now it's about doing that consistently and at least match what we did last season."
