  1. It's even easier than a walk in the parkpublished at 21:10 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Newport 0-6 Southampton

    Michael Pearlman
BBC Sport Wales at Rodney Parade

“When you go there you need to be really lively and be organised. It’s definitely not a Sunday afternoon walk. You have to go for everything if you want to take something there.”

That's what Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl said going into this one.

Well, unless you're going to a some sort of park with a huge hill or one that is especially hard to navigate, it has been a lot easier for Saints than a walk in the park would be.

Could be worse for Newport. They could be Bremer, who trail 12-0 to Bayern Munich now.

Are the kings of conceding nine goals at home going to enjoy a similar score here? Are they going to hit double figures?

I am running out of ways to describe soft goals.

Saints have been excellent. Newport have been abysmal.

CM: Ah good. Found our level. Although to be honest, it wasn't a huge stretch of the imagination to see recent premier league team West Brom add momentum to Arsenal's downward spiral. But goals are goals and Aubameyang getting on the score sheet can only be a good thing.

Ben Rogers: Seems Arsenal might do alright in the Championship if they go down

Mohamed Elyounoussi's goal to make it 4-0 came from close range following Armando Broja's shot. Sorted.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 20:58 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

Best chance of the game as Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle goes through on goal but hits the crossbar.

    Mohamed Elyounoussi

I was googling Dannie Bulman when Mohamed Elyounoussi scored for Southampton. I'll let you know what the goal was like when I find out.

I can tell you he's scored though. His first ever goal for the club.

  13. So there is still a chance?published at 20:53 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Newport 0-3 Southampton

    Michael Pearlman

Now I'm not telling you I'm going to make it as a professional footballer.

For one I rarely if ever play and two, I'm not very good.

But there is no three, because although I'm 40, that's no barrier for me.

Newport have just sent on forward Kevin Ellison who is 42.

I may just be hitting my footballing peak you know.

    Newcastle 0-0 Burnley

I'd love to know how many shots Newcastle midfielder Jeff Hendrick has had tonight. He's done his old club a favour by missing them all.

This time Joelinton's shot lands at his feet but Wayne Hennessey keeps out his effort.

  16. HALF-TIMEpublished at 20:51 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

  18. goal

GOAL - West Brom 0-3 Arsenalpublished at 20:46 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Nicolas Pepe (45+1 mins)

    A rout!

West Brom stick with that high line and it costs them again. Incredible really.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang runs in from the halfway line and has a shot saved by Alex Palmer. He acrobatically volleys the rebound but instead of going in it lands at the feet of Nicolas Pepe, who can't miss.

  19. goal

GOAL - West Brom 0-2 Arsenalpublished at 20:45 British Summer Time 25 August 2021

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (45 mins)

    That might be that.

West Brom are playing a high line and Nicolas Pepe exploits it as he runs in behind. He should probably score himself but his shot hits the post.

The rebound comes to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who slots home his second goal of the game.
