  2. 'Aberdeen in control,' says Glasspublished at 22:19 British Summer Time 12 August 2021

    FT: Aberdeen 2-1 Breidablik (5-3)

Aberdeen boss Stephen Glass tells BBC Sportsound: "We knew they were going to be tough. We had to make a change of shape at half-time and it helped us get over the line.

"The change of shape put the team higher up the pitch. Funso's [Ojo] energy and quality was excellent, Connor [McLennan] the same.

"Joe [Lewis] had one good save but apart from that we were in control. If we took half the chances we created we would’ve been well out of sight earlier."

On Ryan Hedges' performance and future: "He's disappointed he didn’t score three or four tonight. He showed his quality and character and we are delighted for him.

"I'm not convinced of anything but what I am convinced about is he is here until the summer at the moment. Hopefully, he chooses to stay. Good players are in demand, he is in demand here."

It's certainly onwards and upwards for Celtic but I still worry about the turnover of the ball. Is McGregor enough to hold it together in the middle, although they do work hard to press in the final third

  5. Postecoglou revels in 'really special' atmospherepublished at 22:06 British Summer Time 12 August 2021

    FT: Celtic 3-0 Jablonec (7-2)

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Scotland: "For the first 25 minutes we were the team that we want to be. We lost our way a little but we upped our tempo again in the second half. It's hard to play at that intensity all the time but they will get better.

"I'm not getting too carried away about our progress, we've still got a long way to go. Wins and good performances build belief but we're not the finished article yet."

Celtic had three stands packed for the game creating a crackling atmosphere and Postecoglou impressed.

He said: "It was brilliant, it was everything everyone said it would be to me. It was just really special.

"At the moment we're asking a core group of payers - we don't have a great deal of depth - to play a high energy type of game. Having the crowd behind them just gives them that little bit of extra energy they made need if they feel the tank is getting a bit empty."

St Johnstone midfielder Ali McCann tells BBC Sportsound: "We put a real shift in and it's disappointing to lose out.

"The draw in Istanbul shows how far this group has come. We have a good blend of youth and experience. Hopefully there is plenty more to come.

"It's the first time I've played in front of such a big crowd here and you can't beat it."

  8. McGregor 'sore' after costly red cardpublished at 21:50 British Summer Time 12 August 2021

    FT: Rijeka 4-1 Hibernian (5-2)

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Sportsound that veteran centre-back Darren McGregor is hurting after his sending off played a big part in the Easter Road club's exit from Europe.

"We knew we were playing against a tough team," he said. "The red card in isolation has an impact but the goal straight after also does.

"Everyone who knows Darren will know how sore he is at the moment. He has no complaints.

"He is forced to give away the free-kick but mistakes happen. I think he knows that it's had a major bearing on the game.

"We went to-toe-toe with a good team with an electric atmosphere behind them. We have to be more robust. It's a sore one for us."
