Just seen a replay and that was a blatant dive from Anwar El Ghazi.

He's got more lives than a cat at the moment.

    Southampton 1-0 Aston Villa

Villa's Anwar El Ghazi is in the thick of the action.

He goes down in the box but referee Andy Madley waves play on.

    VAR says no penalty either.

    No second yellow for simulation??

James Ward-Prowse hit it perfectly. It's rising. Emiliano Martinez recovers well with good footwork. It's a great one for the cameras with the old reverse arm. It's a wonderful save.

    Close him down!

Southampton work a patient move and Stuart Armstrong has all the time in the world to lay the ball off to James Ward-Prowse.

We know he has a sweet right peg and the England international catches it nicely, cutting across the ball, but Emiliano Martinez makes a flying stop to deny the Saints skipper.

I'm afraid to say it because Deano is a true Villain but I think his time is up. We aren't even doing what we did well last year, and what we did poorly has got worse. Must be a reason half the coaching staff have left! Lampard in please.

    Marc, Solihull

Buendia, Watkins, McGinn and ings are really good players but I feel the level that the rest are on isn't good enough for prem. lots of work to be done. Maybe new coach?

Can see plenty of empty red seats inside St Mary's.

Friday evening football on a freezing south coast? Nah, I don't fancy it either.

Villa now earn corners in quick succession with the second one being punched away unconvincingly by Alex McCarthy.

Luckily it doesn't drop to a Villa shirt.

Villa have to defend another corner and are now passing a note around to each other.

    Tyrone: Milk

    Axel: Bread

    John: Whisky

That's what I'm guessing it says for post-match duties.

Ohhh, this would have been controversial!

Anwar El Ghazi remains on the pitch and comes agonisingly close to finding the equaliser, exchanging passes with Emiliano Buendia but firing over the angle.

El Ghazi is asking the question. Why is Livramento feeling his face? It's ridiculous. Has he been slightly pulled back? Yes. Contact was on the top of his shoulder. If he'd pulled his shirt it would be a second yellow card, but not for me.

Lucky, lucky boy. Anwar El Ghazi is so fortunate to still be on the pitch.

Already on a booking, the Dutchman loses the ball then hauls over Valentino Livramento.

It's a clear second yellow, the Southampton players are surrounding the referee, but Andy Madley doesn't have the courage to issue a red card.

    What a poor decision.

More crosses than a ballot box at the moment.

Adam Armstrong's delivery is headed away by Marvelous Nakamba.

Only a matter of time until Southampton make the pressure count?

Southampton continue to cause Villa lots of problems.

Mohamed Elyounoussi's measured cross to the back post is headed away from danger by a sprawling Matt Targett.

Not seen too much of £30m man Leon Bailey so far.

The Jamaica international is looking to exert his influence on the game but a dipping strike is bread and butter for Alex McCarthy.

The referee isn't in the mood for any niceties tonight.

Anwar El Ghazi is straight into the book for a trip on Valentino Livramento who was on the charge down the right.
