The decision to sack Slavisa Jokanovic and announce a new long-term strategy, which will be spearheaded by Paul Heckingbottom, has certainly polarised opinions amongst the fanbase.

Some felt it was time to sack the Serb after an underwhelming start to the season, whilst others felt he wasn’t backed. Maybe given the long-term thinking at the club he was always on a road to nowhere.

That new long-term plan for an increased use of youth, whether from the academy or bought, has been either viewed as sound by some or as the "cheap option" because "the money's dried up".

It seems this is a crossroads moment for Sheffield United. The plan in essence is a good one. However, many clubs want to do ‘a Brentford’ and it’s always easier said than done.

It's been quite a week for Sheffield United.

The Blades claimed a 1-0 win at Reading on Tuesday in a game that was totally overshadowed by midfielder John Fleck collapsing on the pitch. Fortunately, thanks in no small part to the quick intervention of the two medical teams, the Scotland international is on the mend.

Despite that win in Berkshire the Bramall Lane side opted to make a change in the dugout on Thursday and did so in double quick time. Paul Heckingbottom was announced as Slavisa Jokanovic's long-term successor in the same statement announcing Jokanovic had been sacked.

Will it have the desired effect against Bristol City today? We're about to find out.

Good afternoon and welcome to live text coverage of Sheffield United v Bristol City.
