  2. Turnbull in the mood for more goalspublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 19 October 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-0 Ferencvaros

Celtic midfielder David Turnbull speaking to BT Sport (before news broke that the second was an own goal): "I go from one of my better goals at the weekend to messing up a simple tap in. After I mishit it, I just saw the goalie dive and just threw myself at it.

"I see myself as a goalscoring midfielder, I work hard on finishing in training and hopefully, I can get more goals.

"Now it’s just about continuing the form we’re on at the moment.

"The manager told us these are the games we all want to play football for. We knew we had to take three points from this game and it’s just great we did that."

  3. 'We defended very well as a team'published at 17:53 British Summer Time 19 October 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-0 Ferencvaros

Some more from happy Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou...

"Penalty misses will happen," he tells BT Sport. "Callum is such an important player for us, he controls the tempo for us. He’s a leader in actions not just in his words. Even the best miss penalties - I missed a couple myself!

"I thought Giakoumakis made a world of difference when he came on, he was strong in the final third for us. It’s good to have those options, we’re more settled now to be able to handle these tasks.

"I don’t pop champagne corks for clean sheets, how we defend is more important for me. We defended well in our last two games. Overall, we defended very well as a team, it’s not just about the clean sheet."

  4. 'We never took our foot off the pedal'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 19 October 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-0 Ferencvaros

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou speaking to BT Sport: “I thought it was a good performance, we started well, put them under pressure and controlled the game. We didn’t really allow them too much and in the second half, we had a feeling they’d tire and it would open up for us.

“I’m pleased for the players as they were really disciplined in playing our football.

“It was a world-class move for the first goal, we’re trying to play football that will suit players like Kyogo and Jota but the flip side is they have to work hard defensively. I tell them they’ll get their rewards if they put that defensive work in.

"We’re encouraging David to make those runs into the box. It was an unorthodox finish but it came from us pressing them in our final third. We never took our foot off the pedal we kept going for a third and a fourth."

  7. 'You get the luck if you put the hard work in'published at 17:35 British Summer Time 19 October 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-0 Ferencvaros

Celtic captain Callum McGregor speaking to BT Sport: "We dominated right through and created loads of chances.

"I just want to thank the supporters for their turnout, with it being such a difficult kick-off time, they were brilliant throughout.

"As the manager said we’re a bunch of new players but there is a real bond in this side, and success brings everyone closer.

"Everyone misses penalties at some point, I just need to put it behind me and score the next one.

"In the moments we had to defend, we did that excellently. It is all a step in the right direction. You get the luck for the second goal for your hard work, you get the wee fortunate bits in the games if you put the work in."

Patience is the word to describe Celtic today. They kept believing they'd get the breakthrough and they didn't panic. These players looked like they believed in what they were doing and in the Postecoglou way.

A scrappier, uglier, poorer technique goal you will never see. From a guy who has unbelievable technique. I have no idea how Turnbull's managed to get the ball in the back of the net. The play is good, the finish is the scrappy part.

Not pretty but they all count...

It looks like David Turnbull has a simple close-range finish but he has a horrible fresh-air swipe in front of goal before a defender dives in and plays the ball off the Celtic midfielder and high into the net.

Celtic look more assured as a team and more confident in each other. This half they've looked more comfortable too. They're beginning to look like a more balanced side.
