Xavi has a big job on his hands.

Barcelona are 10th in La Liga after 11 matches - following Espanyol's victory earlier today - and nine points adrift of current leaders Real Sociedad.

Can they make Xavi's task that little bit easier by picking up three points today?

Hosts Celta Vigo are 16th in the standings and one point above the bottom three having won one of their last five league games.

It's official. Former Barcelona midfielder Xavi has returned to the club as manager.

The Spaniard, 41, has signed a contract until 2024 after Qatari club Al Sadd agreed to let him join Barca once his release clause was met.

Xavi's contract will run for the rest of the 2021-22 season plus two more seasons and he is expected to arrive back in Spain this weekend before being officially unveiled on Monday at the Nou Camp.

"You're my fans, my people, the club that I love the most. And now, I'm coming home. See you soon, Culers. Forca Barca," Xavi said.

  13. Welcomepublished at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 6 November 2021

Celta Vigo v Barcelona (15:15 GMT)

Good afternoon everybody and welcome to live text coverage of Barcelona's trip to Celta Vigo in La Liga.

The big news, of course, is that Barca announced the return of club legend Xavi as manager in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Though he will not officially take charge until Monday, the news should lift the players somewhat as they look to improve on their poor start to the campaign.

Kick-off is around 15 minutes away.
