  1. Good nightpublished at 22:21 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

We'll call it quits now. The Livingston lads might still be dancing in the dressing room after that terrific display.

As for Hibs, the only consolation is that it can't get much worse than that, surely?

  2. 'Well deserved three points' for Livipublished at 22:19 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Livingston manager David Martindale said: "I was pretty confident that - and I don’t mean this disrespectfully - if we replicated our performance from Sunday against Hearts that we’d come away with the three points. It was well deserved.

"Hibs dominated the game early on, they got a penalty which I don’t think was a penalty but then we get away with one because there’s one later on in that half that probably was a penalty.

"When you’re down near the bottom of the table and Hibs go and score that penalty it would knock the stuffing out of you, with all the momentum going to Hibs. So I think the boys took a lot of relief from that.

"Stephane Omeonga and Jason Holt are such a good pairing, they must be very difficult to play against.

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

Livingston manager David Martindale says: "I'm so pleased for all the team. All over the park we were great. It's been a wee while since I've told the boys to turn the stereo up after a game!"

  4. 'We are not responding well to adversity at the moment'published at 22:11 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

Speaking to BBC Sportsound, Hibernian head coach Jack Ross said: "We were nowhere near good enough in terms of all aspects of our play; energy levels, quality, discipline.

"Our reaction after conceding the goal was nowhere near good enough. What I would say, is that I own that. It’s my responsibility, so the criticism that comes in the stand tonight and will come afterwards, direct it at me and not the payers as ultimately it’s my team.

"In the opening 15-20 minutes, we looked like a good side but we are not responding well to adversity at the moment. It was a really poor night for us, led by me, I take ownership of that team.

"Physically and mentally the players are strong enough to cope with the challenge. What they have to show is they’re strong enough to cope with the difficult positions we’re in at the moment. But I’ll keep reaffirming it should be on me. I’m the manager, it’s my job to get the best from them and I didn’t do that tonight."

  5. Ross laments 'lack of defensive discipline'published at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross says the two red cards were "a reflection of our lack of defensive discipline throughout the game".

Reflecting on a haul of just four points from a possible 27, he admits the pressure is on him as he takes full responsibility for what was a dreadful display from his team.

  6. What next?published at 22:03 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

Dundee United had better watch out because Livingston will have their tails up when they visit Tannadice on Saturday afternoon.

Hibs go to St Mirren at the same time and will have to do so without Paul McGinn and Paul Hanlon after tonight's red cards, while fellow defender Ryan Porteous might be a doubt after picking up a knock.

A change in defence may be no bad thing, but the Easter Road squad is pretty thin in that department.

Hibs have a cup final coming up. If these players think they're saving themselves for that, they're kidding themselves on. If I was Jack Ross, I'd have five or six of them not playing.

  9. 'Hibs lack urgency'published at 21:53 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

    John Rankin

I don't think Hibs lack confidence, I think they lack urgency. It's about a lack of desire to stop the cross, stop the header. There wasn't enough energy from Hibs.

  10. Postpublished at 21:51 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-0 Hibernian

Hibs are just eight points off the bottom now, having been among the early season pace-setters.

It's been quite a remarkable collapse from the team who finished third last term.

  11. Postpublished at 21:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

Alan Forrest didn't give the Hibs defence a moment's peace in the second half but there were lots of heroes for Livingston, who won just about every man-for-man battle. Stephane Omeonga and Jason Holt were absolutely ferocious in midfield, completely bossing their higher-paid opponents.

  12. 'Livingston were composed throughout'published at 21:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

David Martindale's substitutions were really clever. They created chances on the break, they stayed in their shape and weren't panicked at all. They were composed at all times.

Livingston's pressing caused Hibs some real problems. They should have scored more goals.

  14. FULL-TIME Livingston 1-0 Hibernianpublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

Livingston move up to ninth, five points clear of Ross County at the bottom, after a thoroughly deserved victory.

Jack McMillan swept home the only goal in the first half, while Cristiano Montero and Alan Forrest went close after the break.

Hibs, who missed a penalty soon after falling behind, were abject and stay seventh after a seventh defeat in nine league outings.

The visitors lost Paul McGinn and Paul Hanlon to late red cards, while fellow defender Ryan Porteous limped off injured.

What a chance for the nine men of Hibs! A miscued defensive header falls for Kevin Nisbet but he tries to flash at it with the outside of his right rather than hitting with his left and the shot whizzes high and wide.

That's preventable again, like the last one. Hanlon gets too tight and allows Forrest to turn. They're causing their own problems.

Hibs are imploding! Skipper Paul Hanlon loses his cool and hacks down Alan Forrest, who was wriggling away from him near the touchline.

  20. CLOSE!published at 21:32 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2021

Livingston are running Hibs ragged and Alan Forrest is through on keeper Matt Macey. His shot is saved and the rebound goes off the winger and behind for a goal-kick.
