Blues goal is living a charmed life as a surge and cross by Festy Ebosele is not cleared, and only a flick deflected Tom Lawrence's placed effort from rippling the back of the net.

It looked on the replay that Teden Mengi's hand might have brushed it.

Derby had about three or four chances to pull the trigger there.

Colin Kazim-Richards lets go an absolute rocket from the edge of the box for Derby, but it whizzes wide of the target and clatters the stanchion.

Max Bird played a ball into the edge of the box, and Tom Lawrence's cushioned touch-off was perfect. So close.

Birmingham being made to work at the back as the crosses rain in.

Teden Mengi got his nut on one of them to clear, while another sailed without danger to the back-stick.

Then, Ivan Sunjic has to get a foot in to halt a rampaging Festy Obosele.

Derby's fans are roaring their team forward.

    Derby 0-2 Birmingham

Max Bird attacks the ball late in the box and his shot is deflected behind by Teden Mengi.

The Rams fans are finding their voice.

Curtis Davies gets the jump on his marker as the corner comes in, but the experienced Derby defender heads wide. Just.

Something is brewing with the Rams.

Special note too for Krystian Bielik, who is on for Derby a year since his terrible knee injury.

Great to see him back. Must have been tough.

  9. CLOSE!published at 70 mins

    Derby 0-2 Birmingham

That's more like it from Festy Ebosele.

He cuts in off the left and rattles the fiercest of strikes toward goal, which forces Neil Etheridge to beat behind.

He then comes out to punch clear a testing corner.

More like it from the Rams.

Ryan Woods' over-zealousness in the last few minutes has seen him brought off from the fray.

There hasn't been much sting in Derby since that second goal.

But it's a cliche that 2-0 is a dangerous scoreline as Birmingham found in their favour against Peterborough on Tuesday.

    Derby 0-2 Birmingham

Birmingham have done their homework on Festy Ebosele, who has plenty of pace but didn't fancy a one-on-one skill wise with the Blues full-back a moment ago.

Jason Knight was unlucky that the bounce of the ball favoured Kristian Pedersen as he tried to dance past the Birmingham full-back.

Not seen much of Colin Kazim-Richards yet.

Ryan Woods gives away another foul in midfield. He has been booked already.

    Derby 0-2 Birmingham

John Brooks has been threatening a time-wasting yellow for Birmingham all game and has finally snapped, cautioning Blues keeper Neil Etheridge for taking his time at a goal-kick.

It's a good job for them that Derby haven't offered a threat, as they've been quite laid back about matters at times.

More ruthless teams might have punished that.

    Derby 0-2 Birmingham

Derby had a little flurry on the back of the goal but still couldn't create a chance to trouble Neil Etheridge.

There's no lack of effort from the Rams midfield, but they are being pickpocketed by the likes of Ryan Woods and Gary Gardner.

Woods almost literally pickpocketing just a moment ago as he held back Max Bird and gave up a free-kick.

Sneaky. It's that little bit of street smarts that has been an advantage in the midield area.

    Should be three.

Derby give the ball away inside their own half and the Blues are on their bike.

Lyle Taylor is set away on the right, slides a ball across goal which Scott Hogan again latches onto but his little flick rolls just wide.

That would definitely have put it to bed, given the flow of the game so far.

Danger indeed. Two-nil now and Birmingham are in cruise control.

Derby don't clear the corner sufficiently, and the ball drops to Ryan Woods deep on the right.

It's a perfect cross, Scott Hogan slips into space in the 18-yard box and diverts the ball past a stricken Ryan Allsop for the second.

All to do now for Derby.

    Derby 0-1 Birmingham

Luke Plange has a scamper down the left for Derby, beating a couple of defenders, but as he looked up there was no support.

Scott Hogan repeats the feat for Birmingham. and with two to hit he does cross, prompting Nathan Byrne to whack it behind.

    Danger.
