Palace are a good club for developing wingers and wide players, and it looks like we might have another one in Olise. Give him a bit more time in the Premier League this season to build his experience and confidence, and next year he could really make a mark. I just hope we keep him (and stay up, of course...)

    Kidderminster Harriers 0-1 Reading

The whistle goes for half time with Reading ahead but Kidderminster have given a very good account of themselves.

    Not necessarily over just yet.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:49 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

  4. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    West Brom 0-0 Brighton

Now it's starting to hot up!

It's frantic stuff at The Hawthorns for a few minutes as Brighton counter from a West Brom attack.

Neal Maupay heads wide, then forces a save from David Button straight afterwards when he's racing through on goal.

The Baggies keeper does well to get down low to his right.

  5. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Port Vale 0-1 Brentford

Premier League Brentford lead at the interval, but only by a single goal and Port Vale are giving this a good go!

  6. goal

GOAL - Barnsley 2-0 Barrowpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Jordan Williams

    Game over, you'd think.

There's a mix up in the Barrow box and Jordan Williams taps in to double Barnsley's lead.

Barrow find themselves two goals and a player down in the first half.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:47 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Cambridge

Cambridge goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov is having the game of his life. It's 0-0 at the break and the visitors are well in this against Premier League Newcastle.

  8. goal

GOAL - Kidderminster Harriers 0-1 Readingpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    George Puscas (45 mins)

The Championship side take the lead just before half time!

It is simple stuff from the visitors as a ball over the top is knocked into George Puscas' path and he makes no mistake from close range.

  9. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Port Vale 0-1 Brentford

    Yoanne Wissa hits the crossbar!

It's a lovely, looping attempt from the Brentford forward but it hits the under side of the bar before being headed clear.

  10. DISALLOWED GOAL - Blackburnpublished at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Wigan 0-0 Blackburn

Blackburn have the ball in the net as Ben Brereton Diaz taps in after going around Wigan goalkeeper Jamie Jones, but Brereton Diaz had gone too early when collecting the pass and is offside.

  11. CLOSE!published at 15:46 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Cambridge

He's at it again! Dimitar Mitov flies across his goal to get a finger tip to Jacob Murphy's fizzing half volley and tips it on to the crossbar. What a save.

  12. Postpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Leicester 2-1 Watford

We're almost into stoppage time of the first half at the King Power. This was James Maddison's goal which made it 2-0 to Leicester before Watford got one back moments after.

    It's been quiet since.

  13. Postpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Peterborough 1-1 Bristol Rovers

Peterborough have a chance to retake the lead as they get a free-kick in a promising position, but it is wasted as Joe Tomlinson hits the set-piece too high over his team-mates and it sails out for a goal-kick.

  14. Postpublished at 15:44 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Port Vale 0-1 Brentford

Blimey. Even as a neutral that was stressful to watch. Brentford goalkeeper Jonas Lossl takes his time on the ball, before passing across his goal under pressure. He finds his team-mate, to the relief of all those in yellow shirts.

  15. Big Oggy 'still gets cold sweats'published at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

FT: Coventry City 1-0 Derby County

It's 35 years ago since Coventry City won the FA Cup. And BBC CWR's match summariser Steve Ogrizovic, the Sky Blues keeper that famous day at Wembley, regularly gets reminders of it, especially after a last 12 months during which the club lost both their joint managers that day, George Curtis and John Sillett.

But Big Oggy also knows it was only two years later when the club suffered their biggest FA Cup embarrassment - losing to then non-league Sutton United.

And he got yet another unexpected reminder of it today when a caller in the post match call-in to BBC CWR, when asked who City might want in the next round, said "Sutton United. Are they still in?"

"I was enjoying the afternoon until someone mentioned that," said Oggy. "I still get cold sweats!"

Thankfully, for Oggy - and Coventry - Sutton are out!

  16. RED CARD FOR BARROWpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Barnsley 1-0 Barrow

A long way back for Barrow now.

Tom Beadling is shown a straight red card for a high tackle on Romal Palmer.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 15:43 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Kidderminster Harriers 0-0 Reading

Not ideal for Reading as they are forced into a change five minutes before half time. Alen Halilovic has picked up an injury and he is replaced by Femi Azeez.

  18. Postpublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Leicester 2-1 Watford

Tom Cleverley wins it in midfield for Watford and sets Joao Pedro on his way. He feeds in Cucho Hernández, who tries to cut inside, but is brought down by Vontae Daley-Campbell.

Uh-oh... He's on a yellow card. The Watford players want him sent off but he's got away with it. Cleverley is told to pipe down by the referee.

On replay, Daley-Campbell slips and takes the player with him. It would have been very harsh!

  19. CLOSE!published at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    QPR 0-0 Rotherham

Michael Ihiekwe should score! It's much better stuff from Rotherham, but Ihiekwe can't get the ball under control and sends it wide from six yards out.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 8 January 2022

    Newcastle 0-0 Cambridge

Dimitar Mitov is on fire! The Cambridge goalkeeper makes another superb save, this one to keep out Jacob Murphy's effort from just outside the six-yard box following Ryan Fraser's cut back.
