Here come Hull again!

A long throw into the box causes big problems for the Everton defence but the Toffees do just enough to scramble the ball clear. The Championship side know they'll have opportunities against this Everton back line.

Plymouth have played well in the opening 30 minutes but not managed to get the breakthrough.

Their latest chance saw Ryan Hardie denied by a sliding challenge with his feet from goalkeeper Neil Etheridge and the ball fell to Adam Randell, who tried to shoot into the unguarded goal from 40 yards out but got too much on it and it went over.

Have a gamble and get yourself in the box. Andre Gomes ghosts in from 20 yards. It's not the most graceful diving header but it's well met.

After a horrendous start for Everton they really have got back in the game and been clinical.

Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio Lancashire: "Obviously I’m disappointed but I think the narrative of the game is there for everyone to see. It was a difficult day for our goalkeeper.

"Aynsley Pears has played two and a half league games this year and kept clean sheets in those minutes on the pitch and done very well for us. He’ll be disappointed, as we all are.

"Because of Covid, I felt it was important to let the number two goalkeeper play because you never know, if Thomas Kaminski catches Covid, he [Pears] might have to play. Goalkeeper is an important position but ultimately it didn’t pan out well for us."

A lucky escape for Chesterfield as Romelu Lukaku is left unmarked for a corner but the striker volleys wide.

He is again not far off soon after as he meets Timo Werner's cross but places his effort wide of the post.

Joe Ironside will get the plaudits today, he will be the one that goes down in the record books. But take nothing away from goalkeeper Dimitar Mitov. He made six or seven outstandling saves - saves that were in the top corner, almost certain goals. You look at them and say 'wow'.

You need a big performance on the day, a good team performance, but you also need a good goalkeeping performance and he was outstanding.

This shows the vulnerabilities of Newcastle, the troubles they have got and the mentality of the players.

Even with the signing of Kieran Trippier, the fans got a little carried away thinking 'we have signed an England international, we will be on the way up and we are going to be doing okay'. It's not about that. One player doesn't fix the problems at Newcastle and they are in serious trouble.

This could change the whole game, Southampton down to 10 men after only 29 minutes.

It is Yan Valery who is heading off after picking up two yellow cards. The second of those saw him pull back Michael Obafemi when the former Saints striker looked clean through.

Southampton a goal up, but a man down.

Lewis Hall does well to get back quickly and beat Chesterfield forward James Kellermann to a forward pass.

The young Chelsea midfielder is having a good game.

Nathan Baxter produces an excellent finger-tip save to push a low shot past the post. Much better stuff from Everton since the equaliser after a nervy start.

West Bromwich Albion

West Brom boss Valerien Ismael on Cedric Kipre's red card: "It's not about the referee, it's about us.

"Until the red card we were completely in control. The red card was the game-changer. I told the players in the changing room that I'm satisfied with the performance but not satisfied with the red card.

"We now have three players suspended for the next game. We have to stop this if we want to play with consistency."

Now then, Everton want a penalty after the ball strikes Hull City defender Jacob Greaves on the arm but referee Andy Madley isn't interested one bit. No VAR at the MKM Stadium, of course.

No chances of note for Chesterfield but the 6,000 fans aren't letting the scoreline spoil their day out. They are very much just enjoying seeing their side take on the Champions of Europe.

Another chance for Plymouth. Ryan Hardie races on to a ball forward and tries to go around Birmingham goalkeeper Neil Etheridge, but it is a good recovery from Blues' number one as he gets his hand to the shot to stop it going into the net.

If there is a crumb of comfort to take from games being played behind closed doors, it’s that you can hear everything that coaches shout in an empty stadium.

The usually mild-mannered Swansea boss, Russell Martin, has screamed a few expletives that would have made Neil Warnock proud.

Newcastle United

Speaking to BBC Sport, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said: "We are desperately disappointed. We really prepared well for this game and we played a very strong team.

"But ultimately we found a goalkeeper in superb form and a team that defended for their lives and we couldn't break them down. I don’t think there was anything wrong with our attitude we just couldn't deliver the quality to score. The players are very disappointed. They know the importance of the FA Cup and they wanted to win. When we did get it right the goalkeeper was in outstanding form and I have to credit Cambridge and their manager.

"We did have some good moments but we lacked that killer instinct that every team needs. Then when you don't put the game to bed there's always a chance you leave yourself open and, unfortunately, one of those moments cost us the game.

"The size of the task remains what it is, I just hope the game doesn't damage our players' confidence. Coming into the game we were in a decent frame of mind and were boosted by the Manchester United performance. When you don’t win and achieve your objectives it has to force you into working even harder and that is what we will do.

"I think we have been a little but unlucky today but you need a bit of luck to get to the final and win the FA Cup . It wasn't our year and I'm disappointed for the supporters for the feeling and the noise they gave us today. I think they saw a team motivated today that gave their all but not good enough in the final third.

"The next group of games could potentially be season-defining. Feeding the payers and giving them the confidence to execute is the challenge I face. It's a good group of players with a good attitude but we have to take this defeat on the chin and come back again."

That Romelu Lukaku goal, by the way, came from an assist from 17-year-old debutant Lewis Hall.

What a moment for the youngster.

It has been a bright start from Plymouth and Joe Edwards makes a storming run into the Birmingham penalty area.

However, he has no help and is crowded out by home defenders with his shot eventually being blocked.
