Having the word 'relegation' at the moment for this group of players is just rubbing salt into the wounds. It's about the performance or the lack of performance as a team by being able to be creative, cohesive and gel with that kind of movement and it's passing. It's not particularly smooth at the moment.

Gareth Southgate went to applaud the England fans who have travelled to Italy tonight - and there were some very audible boos.

Because of the very weird scenario of the World Cup being played this winter, there are no pre-tournament friendlies.

England's home game against Germany on Monday - which is a dead rubber in Nations League terms - is their final game before their World Cup opener against Iran in November.

Hungary have completed a famous victory thanks to Adam Szalai's brilliant first-half goal. It means they remain in pole position to qualify the finals - they will just need a draw against Italy on Monday.

Germany can now not qualify for the finals.

That is probably England's final chance. Jude Bellingham, 10 yards out, heads over from Reece James' cross. It wasn't far off.

England's final chance? Declan Rice has a go from 25 yards, a decent curler, but a simple save.

This result will mean that Germany are unable to reach the finals.
