    Rangers 0-0 Stirling Albion

Hearts-in-mouth stuff at the back from Rangers there.

James Tavernier and keeper Jon McLaughlin get in a bit of a mix-up and Stirling striker Francis comes so close to stealing the ball.

Up the other end, Tavernier skies over.

  2. Postpublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2022

Nathan Flanagan gets Stirling forward and tries to thread a pass through to Jack Leitch.

Just a bit too heavy. Decent approach play from the away side, though.

    Rangers 0-0 Stirling Albion

The corner comes in from James Tavernier and Cedric Itten stretches but can't reach it.

Mason Hancock has big pull of Swiss striker's shirt there. Nothing given.

    Rangers 0-0 Stirling Albion

It's the home side who are seeing all the ball early on.

But the fourth-tier visitors look rigid in their shape so far as Fashion Sakala wins a corner.

Jack Simpson has started at left-back for Rangers.

A bit of an experiment from Van Bronckhorst?

  10. 'It's a great occasion & opportunity' - Youngpublished at 19:37 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2022

    Rangers v Stirling Albion (19:45)

Stirling Albion boss Darren Young tells BBC Scotland: "It's a great occasion and opportunity for those young enough and good enough to showcase their talents.

"A few can go up a level and tonight's the night to show that. All week we've looked forward to it, trained and prepared as if it's a normal game.

"We've done set pieces on the odd occasion we get an opportunity or a corner. We need to be ruthless when we get that chance. But like most teams we'll come here and try to be hard to beat."

    Rangers v Stirling Albion (19:45)

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst tells Premier Sports: "I want the players to go out and enjoy their football.

"I told them it doesn't matter who we play, we want to reach our level for the full 90 minutes. That's what I expect tonight.

"Some players need game time, they haven't played much. It's a chance for me to use them."

  13. The last meeting...published at 19:27 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2022

    Rangers v Stirling Albion (19:45)

Rangers fans won't forgive me for bringing up the lower-league era, but the last meeting between both these clubs was back in 2013 when the Ibrox side were trying to haul themselves out of the fourth tier.

Stirling proved a tough nut to crack for the Glasgow club, who only won one of their four meetings against the Forthbank side.

That most recent game in March 2013 was a 0-0 draw. It goes without saying that Darren Young would bite your hand off for that tonight.

    Rangers v Stirling Albion (19:45)

After a mid-table finish in last season's League 2, Stirling find themselves in a similar position after 21 games of this term.

Ex-Aberdeen midfielder Darren Young was appointed manager in December after leaving East Fife and has managed just one win in his four games in charge.

The Forthbank side, who sit sixth in the fourth tier, have lost 10 league games this season but are just two points off the play-off places.
