Luke Garrard has made his way pitchside for the first time this evening. Both Duncan Ferguson and Paul Clement go out of their way to shake hands with the Boreham manager.

Clement lingers just to exchange a few words. Garbutt is clearly moved, in a good way, by the gesture from the Everton back room staff.

Everton manager Frank Lampard on ITV: "The Boreham Wood story is great story and is what the FA Cup is about. They have a special young manager, the romantic side is great for them but for us it is business.

"We have to respect them, generally teams lift themselves in games like this, but we have to back ourselves. There will no approaching this in the wrong way.

"He (Vitaliy Mykolenko) is playing on a footballing decision anyway. For Myko to be captain is a symbol of the unity we have and we are very unified about peace and supporting Ukraine."

The reaction to the Ukraine players from the supporters has been absolutely brilliant. But it makes your heart feel absolutely empty with the horror that is going on in Ukraine right now.

These [Ukrainian] players will be going to sleep at night wondering if they will be able to speak to family members again. If you are in the dressing room you try and make sure you're there as much as you can. It's a duty of care.

It's a great gesture that a Ukrainian is captain of Everton tonight because it shows the club are behind him. For those 90 minutes it might help him. He is a young man and I'm sure Everton are supporting him.

Frank Lampard, writing in tonight's official match programme: "[Boreham Wood's] results in this competition demand respect. To beat AFC Wimbledon, then go to Bournemouth and win, is the sign of an organised and efficient team.

"Luke Garrard is an excellent young manager. He has taken his club from a situation where he had to win the final three games to stay in the National League six years ago, to a position where they regularly compete for promotion into the Football League.

"They have won a lot of matches this season and, regardless of the division in which you're playing, that generates momentum and belief.

"We want to go deep in this fantastic competition and expect a big fight to reach the next stage."

I think it's fair to say Lampard isn't taking Boreham Wood lightly.

"Playing as a right-back, I always wanted to be someone like Tony Hibbert.

"I watched him every week and he is an Everton hero. I always wanted to get one of his shirts and when I first saved up a bit of pocket money, I went and got myself that one!"

Frank Lampard says "mistakes can happen" but hopes Everton will not face more incorrect decisions after they received an apology from the head of the professional referees body.

Professional Game Match Officials Limited boss Mike Riley called both Lampard and Everton chairman Bill Kenwright on Monday to apologise for Everton not being awarded a penalty in the 1-0 defeat by Manchester City at the weekend.

"Mistakes can happen and this was clear," Lampard said. "I don't want to hold all referees or Riley to account.

"But I don't understand the decision and we still don't get the point back, which is critical for us in the position we are in.

"The apology showed from the referee's side that it was a mistake so there's not much more to say as we can't change anything.

"I just hope going forward we don't have to suffer too many more of those decisions."

Everton need to get their season back on track and there could be worse draws. They should be okay but they know the whole country will be wanting Boreham Wood to pull off an upset.

For Everton, this takes the focus off the league and gives you a home game against a team you should beat.
