    FT: Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Manchester City

Man City manager Gareth Taylor: "It’s a big victory. We’re more than capable of going on a run which we’ve done previously. We’ve got seven games to go now, this was an important one to edge back in on the teams around us.

"We’ve given ourselves a good chance. The game wasn’t particularly pretty and the goal probably summed that up. That was a pretty ugly win. But Tottenham are having a good season as well so we’re really pleased.

"The pitch isn’t great. We like to build from the back but we knew we had to adapt a little bit. I felt like we were playing two centrally. We needed to use our pace a little more, we tweaked a few things things and did it slightly better in the second half and just about did enough to win the game."

On goalkeeper Ellie Roebuck's injury: "When there is a concussion issue it’s really important we don’t take any risks. We made the decision that she would have to come off and that was that."

On upcoming games: "They all look easy on paper but I’ve always said they’re not won on paper. There are teams competing to stay in the league or trying to break in and get as high as they possibly can or teams like us who are trying to push on and claw back ground they have lost previously. They may look like simple games but we play Wednesday, then FA Cup next week, then Everton, the games will be pretty full on."

    FT: Tottenham 0-1 Man City

    Fara Williams
Former Liverpool and England midfielder on BBC Two

It’s a really important victory. Tottenham will be disappointed with the goal they conceded – a scrappy goal they could have prevent. City had to find a way to get the three points and they managed to do that.

Tottenham had such a strong start to the season. It was always going to be really difficult to maintain. They’ve come a long way from last season and they can hold their heads up high. Realistically looking at who they are competing with for the third spot – those teams are veterans.
