A masterclass from Xavi and Barcelona. Everyone inside the Bernabeu, including Carlo Ancelotti, has been left stunned by a performance from the visitors that was reminiscent of the vintage football they used to play when Xavi himself was dictating things in the middle of the park.

It will mean little for the title race, but certainly is a statement of intent and Barca have breathed life back into the Clasico after losing five on the bounce.

Their pocket of travelling fans tucked away high up in the corner of the ground won’t forget this in a hurry.
