  3. 'A good performance'published at 19:31 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

FT: Republic of Ireland 2-2 Belgium

Republic of Ireland boss Stephen Kenny, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was an intriguing game, the players did brilliantly overall.

"We are disappointed with the goals we conceded but to play the number one team and have the character to come back twice, and we had one cleared off the line, so overall it was a really good tactical game.

"Our pressing was relentless and forced a lot of mistakes and we were composed in possession. We have to look to continue to improve and that was a good performance."

  4. 'A good opportunity'published at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March 2022

FT: Republic of Ireland 2-2 Belgium

Belgium boss Roberto Martinez, speaking to Sky Sports: "It was a very meaningiful friendly. It was exactly what we wanted.

"We selected a squad under 50 caps so they have never been in that situation - I enjoyed the personality and characters we brought in. We allowed Ireland to put us under a little bit of difficulties in our box but the second half was good.

"You have to give credit to this Irish team, playing at home with an incredible crowd. You are never satisfied if you don't win, but in the same way we are realistic - we came here with a new side and it was a good opportunity to work towards what these players can bring to the squad in the World Cup."

    Germany v Israel (19:45 GMT)

Lots of Premier League interest in Germany's starting XI for their first game in World Cup year.

Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan is captaining the four-time world champions, while Chelsea duo Timo Werner and Kai Havertz both start.

Boss Hansi Flick has also included Benfica midfielder Julian Weigl.

The 26-year-old is making his first appearance for his country for five years since a 1-0 win over England in 2017.

Flick has said Weigl's call-up was necessary to provide a midfield alternative to Joshua Kimmich, who is out for personal reasons.

Germany XI: ter Stegen, Kehrer, Tah, Schlotterbeck, Raum, Gundogan, Weigl, Draxler, Musiala, Havertz, Werner.

Substitutes: Neuer, Trapp, Rudiger, Ginter, Stach, Nmecha, Brandt, Muller, Neuhaus, Henrichs, Sane, Gunter.
