With all his team-mates in the Liverpool half, Martin Dubravka hoofs a free-kick straight into touch. Not ideal.

Right then, Liverpool get us under way in the second half.

Manchester City fans will no doubt be watching this hoping for a little more from Newcastle in the second half. Liverpool, with Mo Salah and Thiago on the bench, have been relatively comfortable.

Joe Willock is currently peripheral out there. He's had 10 touches of the ball in midfield.

Naby Keita up against him has had 41 touches and seems to be winning that mini battle.

Miguel Almiron is the only player to see less of the ball than Willock on 13 touches. It must be hard playing in that space around Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson.

Graham Megennis: I'd normally agree with Bob in Formby (12:57) but you could clearly see him twist his ankle and he was in a bit of pain. No foul though. Great tackle and the ref called it right.

The home fans booed the officials off the pitch at the end of the first half, clearly aggrieved at a few decisions that they felt went against them.

There was applause just before that for their players, though, after decent 45 minutes from them. Newcastle started so strongly and unsettled the Reds but the away side soon grew into the game and finished the half deservedly ahead thanks to Naby Keita's strike.

It is only a one-goal lead, however, and Newcastle have had a couple of moments. Jurgen Klopp won't be feeling completely relaxed until his side get another.

That's the break.

A much-changed Liverpool are heading top of the league if it stays like this.

'Megs. Allan Saint-Maximin slips it through the legs of Naby Keita, that's the first we've seen of him for a while. Newcastle knock it about with purpose down the left and Miguel Almiron is then brought down on the edge of the box. The officials think otherwise...

He may well be on the side trailing here but Bruno Guimaraes is showing what the fuss is about.

He's had 10 duels - the most in his side - and has won five of them.

But with the ball he's played more passes than anyone for Newcastle on 25 and has completed 92%. That's the best completion rate in his side.

If that's not enough, he is also fractionally ahead of those in his side on distance covered, clocking 4.4km.

Here we go... Joelinton has already had a run-in with James Milner and now he's clashing with Diogo Jota. A few arms flailing after the Liverpool man shoved the Newcastle midfielder.

It has been a really good game. Newcastle burned themselves out in the first 15 or 20 minutes chasing Liverpool. Liverpool are dominating now. What an addition Luis Diaz has been.

Jordan Henderson whips in a cross and Jota, about 12 yards out, rises to meet it like prime Teddy Sheringham, engineering a header towards the top corner.

It's a great save from Martin Dubravka to tip it over.

Miguel Almiron has it in the net, but the flag goes up immediately!

Just didn't quite hold his run, the Newcastle forward...

He went through on goal, tried to round Alisson and was forced wide when the goalkeeper got a hand to the ball, but still managed to squeeze the ball in, only to glance over and see the flag up.
