  3. Hibs' second half 'unacceptable' - Maloneypublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

FT: Heart of Midlothian 3-1 Hibernian

Hibs manager Shaun Maloney is angry that his side slipped out of the top six.

"What we gave and showed in the second half was completely unacceptable and that's why Hearts were so dominant in the second half," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"There were moments when we were 1-0 up when we didn't have the quality or intensity to actually take the opportunity.

"We have a lot of youngsters. In these moments, they have to learn from them and they have to learn very quickly. In the second half, I think you saw a very dominant Hearts team against a very young Hibs side that didn't do enough for our supporters.

"We have a lot of work to do between now and next week - and a hell of a lot to do before next season."

  5. Neilson delighted to secure thirdpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

FT: Heart of Midlothian 3-1 Hibernian

Hearts manager Robbie Neilson tells BBC Scotland: "It's a good performance and it's great to get the three points and secure third place after just being promoted.

"Andy Halliday thrives in these environments. The opposition fans go after him, the pressure of playing in the big games, but in my opinion he's a real top player and he showed it again."

Neilson is relishing facing Hibs again in next weekend's Scottish Cup semi-final after today's 3-1 win over their city rivals.

"Next week will be interesting," he adds. "Hampden is going to be rocking. We've sold 20,000 tickets and we hope we can get some more."

  7. Hearts 'full of characters' - Hallidaypublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

FT: Heart of Midlothian 3-1 Hibernian

Hearts' Edinburgh win not only denied Hibs a top-six place but means Robbie Neilson's side will definitely now finish third.

Two-goal hero Andy Halliday tells BBC Scotland: "We've got third over the line and, in the next few days, we've got to reflect on what has been a brilliant 12 months and how far we've come.

"It's an amazing dressing room, one that I've really enjoyed being a part of the last couple of years. We've added to it, not just good footballers but good characters.

"I've played a lot of derbies, but one thing is for sure, when you look to your left and right, you want characters next to you."

  8. Courts 'bitterly disappointed' despite top-six placepublished at 17:44 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    FT: Dundee United 2-2 Dundee

Dundee United manager Tam Courts admits it is a hard draw to take despite securing their top-six place against rivals Dundee.

“Bitterly disappointed, really frustrated," he tells BBC Sportsound. "When you go two goals up at home and you build up a bit of momentum, it only seemed like there was going to be one winner once we got the second goal.

“But, for whatever reason, the team retreated a little bit, not just defensively but the whole team and that almost forced us into five or 10 minutes of being quite passive, by which time Dundee had got back on level terms.

"It was good to see the team showing a bit of resilience and having some big chances towards the end, but it’s bitterly disappointing."

  9. We have to put result 'to bed' - Davidsonpublished at 17:42 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    FT: Celtic 7-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson insists that his team can shrug off their 7-0 thrashing by Celtic and escape relegation.

"It's never nice to suffer that kind of scoreline, but Celtic were relentless for 90 minutes," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"It's a very hard place to come and get any points, so we've got to look beyond this to the next five games.

"It is a huge five games for the club to stay in this league.

"Before today's game, we've been on a good run of form and I've been pleased with the players and their attitude. We're going to have to put this game to bed pretty quick and move on."

  10. A really valuable point - McGheepublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    FT: Dundee United 2-2 Dundee

Dundee manager Mark McGhee is fully of praise for the way his side recovered from 2-0 behind to secure a city derby draw and inch to within five points of St Johnstone at the bottom of the table.

“The players can be proud of themselves," he tells BBC Scotland. "They’re out there in the circumstances we’re in, in terms of the predicament we’re in and also the circumstances of the game and losing a couple of disappointing goals.

“To fight back from that and come out with a draw and a point, which is going to be a really valuable point going into the last five games, was fantastic.

“The fans were loving it and, more important than anything, I think it’s time we started to give the fans something back."

  11. Battling Cowden delay inevitablepublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    Scottish League 2

Cowdenbeath have delayed what seems to be the inevitable confirmation of their place in the pyramid play-off at the foot of the fourth tier after a superb, battling 3-2 win away to second-top Annan Athletic.

That not only ended their own nine-game run without a victory but lifts them to within nine points of Elgin, who lost at home to Stenhousemuir, with three games remaining. The Fifers still need to win all three and hope Elgin lose theirs to escape.

The other result of the day was Stranraer's 5-0 thumping of hosts Albion Rovers, but it still doesn't move the visitors any closer to a promotion play-off place as fourth-top Edinburgh ended a run of four games without a victory to secure their first under manager Alan Maybury by beating third-top Forfar.

Champions Kelty had a rare home slip-up, drawing with Stirling.

  12. Celtic wait on Giakoumakis newspublished at 17:23 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    FT: Celtic 7-0 St Johnstone

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou adds that they'll have to wait and see if Giorgos Giakoumakis will be available for the rest of the season.

The Greek striker scored his side's second goal but was denied the chance of a third hat-trick in a row after going off with a muscle injury.

  13. Celtic 'not going to let it slip'published at 17:21 British Summer Time 9 April 2022

    FT: Celtic 7-0 St Johnstone

Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou tells BBC Sportsound: "It was a great performance. I think the scoreline reflected our dominance.

"We knew it was a dangerous game - they have been in good form. It was important we started well.

"Like a lot of our games at home, we got on top early, but what was pleasing today was we finished off our work in the second half and made it a convincing performance for the whole 95 minutes."

Celtic are now nine points ahead of Rangers and within touching distance of taking the title from their city rivals.

"They want this, they can taste it," he adds. "The players want to create something special for themselves and they're not going to let it go now."
