  2. Helander faces scan on injurypublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

The concern for Rangers ahead of Thursday's European tie was the need to withdraw midfielder John Lundstram before half-time through injury, while centre-half Filip Helander, who is not the Ibrox club's European squad, also went off injured.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst reports that: "Lundstram felt a little bit in his groin, but hopefully he can make it for Thursday. Helander fell awkwardly and he's getting a scan now."

The manager obviously still believes that his side can overcome the 1-0 deficit against Braga and reach the Europa League semi-finals.

"We've confident because we won today, but we are always confident of winning in Europe," he adds.

  3. Van Bronckhorst pleased with confidence boostpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst thinks the win over St Mirren will boost his side's mood ahead of Thursday's second leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Braga.

"We needed to win the game to get back to winning ways," he tells Sky Sports. "4-0 with no goals against gives us confidence for Thursday.

"It was good to get an early goal and just before half-time and be able to rest some players in the second half."

Asked about striker Kemar Roofe's hat-trick, he adds: "I was very happy for him and to score his first hat trick for Rangers."

  4. One win in nine not good enough - Robinsonpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson is staying positive but knows that his side need to improve to avoid relegation.

"After losing the ealry goal, we stayed disciplined and our shape was good - they weren't breaking us down, but when you lose the goal just before the break, it makes it a completely different team talk," he tells BBC Sportsound.

"Ultimately they won the game comfortably because we were chasing the game after that

"There's only two points between us and seventh, so it's still in our hands to finish as high as possible.

"That's one win in nine since I came in, which is not good enough and I take responsibility, but we've got enough good players to climb up the table."

You can't help being worried about St Mirren and the actual run of form at the moment - it's very concerning. It's going to be a few difficult weeks for them unless they can start winning

There were question marks when Alfredo Morelos was injured about who was going to step up and take that place - and Kemar Roofe did that. It's a huge week coming up for Rangers, Braga first and then the semi-final, a defining week and this was a good result to build confidence and momentum

  7. I'd proved myself already - Roofepublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

Kemar Roofe doesn't think he has anything to prove in the absence of injured fellow striker Alfredo Morelos.

"I think I've proved it already before today - I've been here for three years and done it already," the Rangers forward tells Sky Sports after his hat-trick against St Mirren.

"We managed the game as we knew St Mirren would put up a good game. The early goal calmed the nerves maybe around the ground and the second goal was massive as well and allowed us to make changes at half time."

  8. Buddies looking over shoulderpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 10 April 2022

    FT: St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

For St Mirren, defeat adds to the disappointment of missing out on the top six yesterday.

A fourth consecutive defeat under new manager Stephen Robinson leaves the Buddies definitely looking over their shoulder at the relegation zone.

They remain six points ahead of St Johnstone with five games to go - and they are only three goals better off than the Perth side should it come to goal difference to avoid a play-off place.

Kemar Roofe's hat-trick ensures Rangers end a difficult week on a high and narrow the gap again on Premiership leaders Celtic to six points.

Joe Aribo added the final flourish as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side put behind them defeats by Celtic and Braga.

    St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

St Mirren are ending brightly despite the scoreline and on-loan Wolves midfielder Connor Ronan's low drive is again denied by an Allan McGregor fingertip round the post.

Joe Shaughnessy this time with the header over from the corner.

  11. Goldson concernpublished at 88mins

    St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

Another injury worry for Rangers came while we were waiting for that corner to be taken.

Connor Goldson was down needing a bit of treatment. The visitors will hope it was only a bit of cramp given that centre-half partner Filip Helander had to go off injured before the break.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 86mins

    St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

Substitute striker Alex Greive goes so close to a consolation goal.

However, his curling drive looks to be heading for the far corner until Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor's outstretched finger turns it wide for a corner.

Strike partner Curtis Main should do better than head over from eight yards from the set-piece delivery.

  13. Postpublished at 84mins

    St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

Rangers continue to probe and Joe Aribo's low cross into the six-yard box just evades a clutch of team-mates looking to add to St Mirren's misery.

  14. Postpublished at 81mins

    St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

A quick break from St Mirren and it looks like Alex Greive has a sight at goal, but Connor Goldson is back to block the striker's shot.

From the corner, goalkeeper Allan McGregor gathers Richard Tait's looping header from under the crossbar.

  15. Erhahon replaces Jonespublished at 77mins

    St Mirren 0-4 Rangers

St Mirren make their final change as Ethan Erhahon replaces Jordan Jones in midfield.

The former Rangers winger had a bright start of the game, but he's long fallen out of it.

The change is not going to change the course of the game.

    Joe Aribo

    Whoa!

Joe Aribo adds the icing to the Rangers cake - and how fancy it is.

The Nigeria midfielder collects the ball with his back to goal and a quick turn and shot sends his 18-yard drive curling and dipping over goalkeeper Dean Lyness and into the far corner.

    St Mirren 0-3 Rangers

Again, it should be four for Rangers.

However, when St Mirren fail to clear a cross into their six-yard box, James Tavernier has his effort blocked in front of goal.

  18. Postpublished at 73mins

    St Mirren 0-3 Rangers

It's just not happening for St Mirren.

Even when they have a rare sight at goal, they can't capitalise on a slip from visiting centre-half Conor Goldson.

Curtis Main tries a shot from the edge of the penalty box, but it powers wide.

    St Mirren 0-3 Rangers

A quick break after a slip from home defender Conor McCarthy and it should be Rangers' fourth.

Fashion Sakala burst forward and sets up Amad Diallo in front of goal.

The winger sidesteps a defender and looks certain to score, but the low drive past the post sums up his time on loan from Manchester United.
