It's not a great pass from Van Dijk out to De Ligt. Sarr pinches it off of him plays, it into Dia and he gets his shot off.

It wasn't a great first touch but it's deflected behind for a corner.

We've seen 10 goals from the opening two games of the tournament. and this doesn't look like it is going to end goalless. It's a really open affair.

I think Cody Gakpo in that position has to be more selfish, he is one-on-one, takes a touch and is trying to square the ball to Steven Bergwijn. Twelve yards out, not the most difficult angle... why is he not going for goal there?

Big chance for the Netherlands!

Nampalys Mendy switches off and the ball fizzes across the Senegal penalty area but no one in orange can connect.

That's a big let off for Senegal.

The Senegal fans have brought their drums and dancing shoes. It's a fantastic atmosphere in here. There was a huge roar when Ismaila Sarr won the ball on the left side to set up Boulaye Dia. The African champions have started with intent.

There's a terrific noise as the Oranje get the game under way but they give the ball away early. The champions of Africa are on the attack and there's an early chance for Boulaye Dia, whose attempt is deflected over.

Game number three at the 2022 World Cup is under way.

National anthem time. Seven Senegal fans decked out in body paint in Senegal's national colours stand and salute as their country's anthem booms out.

Dutch fans right to boycott World Cup - Van Gaal

Louis van Gaal says Dutch fans who are boycotting the World Cup over human rights concern are right to do so but hopes that if his side get to the final on 18 December they will at least watch the game on television.

A survey published in the Netherlands last week said only 14% were interested in following the tournament after years of negative publicity about Qatar.

Qatar has rejected many of the allegations about the treatment of migrant workers and said the World Cup had helped bring about better working conditions.

On the chances of the Netherlands winning the World Cup, Van Gaal added: "I think that we could become world champion, but there are squads that, in my view, are at a higher level than my squad. So I'm saying we can become a world champion.

"Whether we become world champion is another thing, but we can."

Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is also here.

It's a sea of colour inside the ground. Lots of orange, green, yellow and red. There's a lights show going on as the players gather in the tunnel.

As dozens of fans converge, suddenly things come to a standstill at one corner of Souq Waqif as drumbeats from the Senegal fans' band hit the quiet sunny afternoon.

The drummers in red, yellow and green colours attract crowds of passers-by.

The seat colours almost resemble the Senegalese flag, it’s just missing some more yellow.

There’s plenty of fans of the African champions in here already. The Dutch are steadily flowing in.

Where is this taking place?

It's approaching 19:00 local time and this game is taking place at the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha.

It's a 40,000-capacity arena and is the only completely circular venue at this World Cup.

For many, the first sighting of the ground will come from above as flights land at Hamad International Airport.

3,000 Oranje in Qatar

Around 3,000 Dutch fans are expected in Qatar for the World Cup. Just how many will be at this game remains to be seen but there was plenty of orange on display outside the ground a couple of hours ago.

Senegal boss remembers ferry disaster

Aliou Cissé: Senegal national football team coach remembering the Joola disaster

In 2002, 11 members of Aliou Cisse's family, including his sister, died in a ferry disaster, often labelled 'Africa's Titanic', off the coast of The Gambia, which is surrounded by Senegal.

"This is the first time since the sinking that I have spoken about it in the press," Senegal boss Cisse told BBC Sport Africa. "It was a very difficult time.

"We must simply remember our dead and all those families decimated from the fathers down to the grandchildren.

"In fact, my main motivation in agreeing to this interview is to say 'we are thinking of you'."
