Penny for Lewy's thoughts?

He's waited a lifetime to score a World Cup goal - and the 10-time Bundesliga winner is still waiting.

Lewandowski has missed each of his last two penalties for club and country. His penalty for Barcelona in La Liga against Almería went wide on 5 November.

Guillermo Ochoa had a trial with Fulham in 2010 but Roy Hodgson didn't fancy him.

With five World Cups on his CV though - albeit two as a unused substitute - and now with that save, Ochoa has further enhanced his legendary status.

Each of Poland's last three World Cup penalties have been saved: Kazimierz Deyna in 1978, Maciej Zurawski in 2002 and Robert Lewandowski in 2022.

That was just two players grappling for the ball, they are holding each other's shirts almost.

Yes, Moreno has a hold of his shirt but he is not pulling Lewandowski back - it is shoulder to shoulder and I really disagree with the referee's decision.

Well I said, he took a deep breath and as you looked at Lewandowski you could tell he felt that pressure and the penalty wasn't his best.

You'd think Mexico have just won the World Cup already - the noise is unbelievable.

A fantastic save by the keeper and Lewandowski is still without a goal at a World Cup - you just couldn't write this.

The keeper has done his homework but it's quite a poor penalty for a man of his standing.

Hopefully this gets Mexico to change gear a little bit and go after it.

Lewandowski put his hand on him but the defender then grabs his shirt - they've seen that and given the penalty.

The referee has shown Hector Moreno a yellow card. Mexico's players are not happy one bit. Lewandowski puts the ball on the spot...

Poland have lost a lot of early games when they have made it to the World Cup so maybe their mindset is to come and be hard to beat. There is now a really clear two banks of four that are going to be hard to break down.

Corner to Mexico. It's drilled in and it requires strong punch by Wojciech Szczesny to clear. Then Hirving Lozano has a pop and it sails into the arms of the Poland keeper.
