YELLOW CARD

I wonder when the last time Australia had an attack was. It's been all France for so long. Kylian Mbappe can't take advantage of a chance.

INJURY TIME

Four-some France

France have scored four goals in consecutive World Cup matches for the first time - including the 4-2 win in the 2018 final against Croatia.

They're only the third team to do so at the World Cup this century, after Brazil in 2002 and Germany in 2010.

Mbappe is angry with himself and rightly so.

It was a great opportunity and just a bad touch. I've jinxed him.

But the run... his decision-making on when to pass, when to run, when to shoot, like all the best players, is tremendous.

Kylian Mbappe is clipped and looks at his foot. But suddenly he comes alive again as Antoine Griezmann clips a ball over the top. His first touch is heavy though and Mat Ryan gathers.

Three of France's goals today were headers. This is the most by a team in a single World Cup match since Gracenote collected this data (2006).

Positives for Australia to take

I think Australia can take some positives from that first half. They played some good stuff going forward, created some chances. They've got great energy and desire as well.

And of course it will be more evenly matched when they play the other two teams compared to coming up today against the creativity and pace and quality of the French.
