  1. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

The referee should blow - no need for these extra minutes. The game's done. It's too pedantic for me.

  2. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

I was thinking Didier Deschamps looks different these days. And I just realised I was looking at Australia boss Graham Arnold. Whoops.

  3. YELLOW CARD

    France 4-1 Australia

Australia's Aaron Mooy has time to squeeze in a yellow card for a foul on Theo Hernandez.

  4. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

I wonder when the last time Australia had an attack was. It's been all France for so long. Kylian Mbappe can't take advantage of a chance.

  5. INJURY TIME

    France 4-1 Australia

Seven minutes added on. In previous tournaments that would seem like a lot.

  6. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

Antoine Griezmann lifts in a cross and Theo Hernandez's header is at Mat Ryan.

  7. Post update

And here was Olivier Giroud's record-equalling goal.

  8. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

France almost make it five from the corner but Mat Ryan performs an excellent reaction stop to keep out Ibrahima Konate's close-range header.

  9. SUBSTITUTION

    France 4-1 Australia

France have a corner but first bring on Jules Kounde and Marcus Thuram for Olivier Giroud and Benjamin Pavard.

  10. Post update

    Here was Kylian Mbappe's goal.

  11. Four-some France

    France 4-1 Australia

France have scored four goals in consecutive World Cup matches for the first time - including the 4-2 win in the 2018 final against Croatia.

They're only the third team to do so at the World Cup this century, after Brazil in 2002 and Germany in 2010.

    France celebrate a goal
  12. SUBSTITUTION

    France 4-1 Australia

Milos Degenek and St Mirren's Keanu Baccus replace Jackson Irvine and Nathaniel Atkinson.

    It's only Baccus' second cap.

  13. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

Mbappe is angry with himself and rightly so.

It was a great opportunity and just a bad touch. I've jinxed him.

But the run... his decision-making on when to pass, when to run, when to shoot, like all the best players, is tremendous.

  14. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

Kylian Mbappe is clipped and looks at his foot. But suddenly he comes alive again as Antoine Griezmann clips a ball over the top. His first touch is heavy though and Mat Ryan gathers.

  15. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

Three of France's goals today were headers. This is the most by a team in a single World Cup match since Gracenote collected this data (2006).

  16. Positives for Australia to take

    France 4-1 Australia

    Danny Murphy

Former England midfielder on BBC One

I think Australia can take some positives from that first half. They played some good stuff going forward, created some chances. They've got great energy and desire as well.

And of course it will be more evenly matched when they play the other two teams compared to coming up today against the creativity and pace and quality of the French.

  17. YELLOW CARD

    France 4-1 Australia

France are cruising now. Jackson Irvine clips Dayot Upamecano and is booked.

  18. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

Kingsley Coman is 26 and has never not won the league title. It helps when you play for PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich...

  19. Post update

    France 4-1 Australia

    Chris Sutton

Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

This is it for France, coming into the tournament we are saying they are depleted and then they bring on Kingsley Coman.

Sho: Big up Olivier Giroud. One of the most underrated players of his generation.
