Well done the wall, nice job. They were well lined up by Unai Simon.

Alvaro Morata heads away at the near post. Very disappointing from Germany.

Joshua Kimmich steps up... and hits the wall.

    A corner is Germany's consolation.

    Now then...

Niclas Fullkrug is fouled on the edge of the box by Rodri and Germany have a free-kick they can very much smack at goal.

    Poor pass.

Germany look to get in on the Spain goal, but Jamal Musiala's pass is too easy for Aymeric Laporte to cut out.

It’s now or never for Germany. They could still rescue this but if they don’t I think it means questions will be asked and maybe Flick will be given his marching orders, if he doesn’t quit first.

Germany, whilst seemingly not as bad as the 2018 disaster, are a shadow of the 2014 winning side. They work better than England did against the USA, but where's the end product? Even without a recognised striker, these weak or overhit passes, and a lack of desire to get into dangerous positions isn't good enough at this level. A second Spain goal will kill this game and Germany's WC...

Into the last 15 minutes. Every tick of a German's watch is going to feel like a chime of impending doom.

They need something and they need it fast or they ae facing a trial and a half in the last group games.

Germany historically have had players of Fullkrug's size who did really well. You can pass the ball up to him, he's physically strong

Things looking very dicey for Germany now in Group E. Surely not a second consecutive group-stage exit incoming?

As it stands Germany would need to beat Costa Rica, hope that Japan lose to Spain and improve their goal difference to stay in the tournament.

That Musiala chance was everything Germany could have hoped for.

You fear for them that they won't get another opening like that.

What a save! That was his big chance. He timed the run really well.

It is a good save. He stands up really well when Musiala would have been hoping he went down early.

Massive, massive chance! Met by a superb save!

Jamal Musiala beats the offside trap to latch on to Leroy Sane's neat ball. he has just Unai Simon to beat but fails to do so, the Spain keeper standing tall to block the shot with his bicep.

Just like Spain put Morata on, Fullkrug has just shown himself as that as well. Germany haven't had that option for all of this game.

    Chance!

There is Fullkrug, getting in ahead of Rodri, but he can't make clean contact on the Jamal Musiala cross and the ball trickles to Unai Simon.

Clever from Enrique to put Morata up against Sule. Bit of a pace mismatch there.

Germany headed towards the group stage exit door for the second World Cup in a row? By their own historically high standards this is unthinkable.
