One of the problems Croatia are having is the turnover of the ball is too often.

Morocco are coming on top of them again and again. But Croatia are starting to get more possession, though.

Hakim Ziyech is making the most of his return to the Morocco team. Their most dangerous moments are going through him and although his floated cross into the box doesn't quite come off, it was the right idea.

Croatia have dominated possession with 61% but bar the Ivan Perisic chance they haven't really troubled the Morocco goal.

It definitely feels like this game is simmering after a fairly tepid start. Both sides are looking capable of getting the opener.

Youssef En-Nesyri gets the ball with his back to goal inside the area. He attempts a shot on the turn but Dejan Lovren is there to make an important block.

Morocco are rising to the energy levels of their supporters inside the stadium. There’s a great noise and less empty seats than I was expecting. A bit like their North African rivals Tunisia yesterday, it’s the final pass which is letting Morocco down as they’ve been in some good attacking areas.

Croatia are playing more patiently and don’t look flustered at all. It’s fascinating seeing Luka Modric drift all over the park. It must be an absolute nightmare for the Morocco midfield to keep track of him.

Luka Modric gives away a foul right on the edge of the area and this could well be prime Hakim Ziyech territory.

The Morocco fans are certainly sensing an opportunity...

This game is really opening up now and Youssef En-Nesyri really should be scoring as Hakim Ziyech delivers a great ball in, finds his team-mate but En-Nesyri just completely misses his header.

Big chance.

We are still talking about Luka Modric in the highest regard.

At 37 years of age, he's still side-stepping and going past players. The big question is can he still do it in the 8th minute?

The Tottenham midfielder has space in front of his 25 yards from goal and that is too much of an invitation to pass up. He rifles a fierce drive that is only just over the bar.

Andrej Kramaric is looking very isolated for Croatia at the moment. He is constantly surrounded by red shirts whenever Croatia go forward.

What a start to this game. Belief from Morocco that they can take the game to Croatia.

This is constant pressure from Morocco,

Morocco are having a good spell as Hakim Ziyech shows good feet on the edge of the area before getting a shot off that is blocked by Dejan Lovren. Achraf Hakimi keeps the attack alive as he darts down the right but his low ball in is deflected to Dominik Livakovic at his near post.

This could have been a moment for Morocco as the ball is worked quickly to Hakim Ziyech on the right. The Chelsea man tries a first-time flick into the box that would have put his team-mate in but Josko Gvardiol gets in the way of the pass.

You see the difference in the way players in the top five leagues are approaching games to previous World Cups, now they believe they can press high because they are so much better tactically.

A Luka Modric special as he floats a brilliant ball from inside his own half into the Morocco box for Nikola Vlasic but the forward's touch lets him down and the opportunity goes.
