How many chances do Canada want?

Great work by Stephen Eustaquio finds Jonathan David at the back post but his header drops just wide.

Les Rouges have done everything but score.

Roberto Martinez has reacted to that first 45 by making two changes at the start of the second half.

Thomas Meunier and Amadou Onana are on for Yannick Carrasco and Youri Tielemans.

Will Canada haul themselves back into this? Away we go in the second half.

The only problem with this Canada team is that, with all the great stuff that we've seen, only two of their shots have been on target - and that's why they've got to sharpen up after having 14 shots.

The only player who had fewer touches was Junior Hoilett, with 14.

Canada had more shots (14) and more touches in the box (26) in that first half than England did in their 6-2 win against Iran in total (13 and 25)… but no goals.

Belgium haven't needed to take charge of this game because Canada have been wasteful.

That is the only negative I have on them. Very positive, lots of energy, need to do better in the final third.

Belgium waited and waited. Quality pass, quality finish.

The scoreline does not reflect what we have just seen but Belgium were able to apply a quality finish whereas Canada were wasteful. Canada have been great value and must believe they still have a real chance against this creaking Belgium side.

Out of absolutely nothing. Just poor defending from Canada. Batshuayi has a yard of space and it's a really good finish from him. He just guides it into that far corner.

Belgium will be thanking their lucky stars because they have been nowhere near good enough in the first half. John Herdman will be fuming with that defending, just one straight ball. You've got to deal with it.
