  1. goal

GOAL - Serbia 0-1 Switzerlandpublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Xherdan Shaqiri

    It had to be him!

Ricardo Rodriguez's low cross is cleared as far as Djibril Sow, who shows great composure to pick out Xherdan Shaqiri on the right side of the penalty area.

The former Liverpool man doesn't strike it particularly cleanly but the ball takes a deflection off Strahinja Pavlovic on its way in.

As it stands, Switzerland are heading through to the last 16.

  2. Compact Serbiapublished at 19:20 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Serbia 0-0 Switzerland

It is early days, but already you can see Switzerland are trying to stretch Serbia, who are sTaying more compact and trying to play through the midfield.

Their defensive line is quite low so far, too.

    Serbia 0-0 Switzerland

Dusan Tadic has been everywhere so far. The Ajax man wriggles his way past a couple of Switzerland defenders before cutting the ball back for Filip Kostic, but Switzerland manage to clear the latter's cross.

Kostic will be running at Widner at every opportunity now.

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at Lusail Stadium

Brazil's mainly second string - hardly call it weakened - have started smoothly, knocking the ball around and dominating Cameroon, Tite's squad is so strong. So many options.

  5. Postpublished at 19:17 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil

Brazil are taking control now as Gabriel Martinelli looks for Gabriel Jesus with a ball into the box but the Cameroon defence is able to deal with the danger.

  6. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19:16 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Serbia 0-0 Switzerland

Serbia have just about shaded the opening stages but they look a little uncomfortable when trying to play out from the back.

They manage to feed Filip Kostic down the left and the Juventus winger is brought down by Silvan Widmer, who is shown the game's first yellow card.

Switzerland will be joining Brazil in the last 16 as things stand.

But remember, Serbia will leapfrog Switzerland with a win tonight.

    Serbia 0-0 Switzerland

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport at 974 Stadium

This has been a great game so far! Very end-to-end and both teams attacking with purpose. It's still a pretty dull atmosphere but the Serbia fans were given something to chant about with that effort that struck the post.

  10. Postpublished at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil (19:00 GMT)

    Andy Cryer
    BBC Sport in Qatar

Every time Brazil attack, there is an expectant roar from their incredible supporters.

They are almost rewarded as Gabriel Martinelli sees a header tipped over. The reaction is deafening.

  11. 'Poor miss'published at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil

    Chris Sutton
Former England striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

I think Martinelli should score, he heads it straight at the keeper who gets a big left hand. He could have gone back across the keeper, I think that's a poor miss.

  12. GREAT SAVE!published at 19:15 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil

    Big save by Devis Epassy!

Fred plays a brilliant ball into the box, putting it right on Gabriel Martinelli's head and the Arsenal forward directs an effort towards goal that Epassy does well to push over.

First chance of the game and it was a good one.

  13. Postpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil

Brazil again build down the right before Fabinho sends the ball into the box, but Christopher Wooh heads away.

A pretty low key start so far but, as we've seen in these group-stage games, things can dramatically explode to life quickly.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Serbia 0-0 Switzerland

So close to a Serbia opener! Andrija Zivkovic cuts inside from the right and curls a sumptuous effort towards the far corner which crashes off the upright and bounces clear.

Switzerland breathe a huge sigh of relief.

  15. Postpublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

Dusan Tadic bundles his way past Nico Elvedi inside the penalty area but fails to find a team-mate with his cut-back.

Serbia are starting to gain the upper hand here...

    Serbia 0-0 Switzerland

Ruben Vargas sends a looping cross towards Breel Embolo at the far post, but Vanja Milinkovic-Savic comes out to collect.

The Serbia keeper has been a busy boy in the early stages.

Nouhou may be in a bit of trouble in this game because that's twice already in the opening six minutes that Antony has gotten the better of him.

Alex: Brazil's 'second' team would still have a good chance at winning this cup... hard to imagine a team beating them this year.

  20. Postpublished at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 2 December 2022

    Cameroon 0-0 Brazil

It is a big night for Antony as he makes his first World Cup start and he is clearly keen to impress as he spins his marker on the right to try and charge up the pitch but is then pulled back.
