    Uruguay 0-0 South Korea

    Emma Sanders
BBC Sport at Education City Stadium

There's a very lively contingent of South Korea fans behind Sergio Rochet's goal.

They were holding up a giant flag during the national anthem and swaying. Now they've got the drums going and are chanting.

The Uruguayans are mainly over on the other side but they are dotted around the stands in patches.

Chris Sutton's predictionsImage source, BBC Sport

This is an extremely open group and I changed my mind a couple of times about who would go through.

Uruguay's ageing frontline of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani counts against them, but South Korea lack a cutting edge too despite being able to control games through their possession.

Son Heung-min's form for Spurs was patchy this season even before he fractured his eye socket.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-1

    Uruguay 0-0 South Korea

This is the first World Cup match since 2002 that the Uruguayan national team have played where they are led by a coach other than Oscar Tabarez, who has coached each of their last 16 games at the tournament.

Diego Alonso, the current coach and a World Cup debutant, took over in December 2021.

Federico Valverde is the standout player. He is turning into a wonderful player into the Real Madrid side. This is the first time I've seen him live so I'm excited to see him. It'll be interesting to see how Darwin Nunez adapts to his first World Cup.

Luis Suarez is the most difficult striker that I ever faced in my career. He is gritty and relentless.

    Pablo Zabaleta

Uruguay produce top players. They are always so competitive. They have a strong mentality to compete in the biggest games. I love that.

They have a mix of old experienced players and a mix of really young players like Federico Valverde. It is amazing.

Uruguay v South Korea (13:00 GMT)

This was the scene in the Uruguay dressing room earlier on. A lot of players with four different pairs of boots to choose from. Liverpool's Darwin Nunez (number 11) is that good though, he only needs two pairs.

There's one man who is very popular in the media centre.

Uruguay LEGEND Diego Forlan is here for broadcasting duties but he remains a huge name back home and the cameras have barely left him alone before kick-off.

The ex-Manchester United forward was born in Montevideo - the capital city of Uruguay - and scored 36 goals in 112 appearances for his country.

He was Uruguay's all-time top scorer when he retired but he has since been taken over by current players Edinson Cavani (46) and Luis Suarez (55).
